We were out for a walk today and came across a small hatchback literally wedged across a hedge. It looked really odd. I took a couple of pics.

What image sites do people use to display pics on here? I'll load one up.

We seem to have escaped the bad weather up here in the North.

It's been a bit overcast and light showers, but I can cope with that.

Discovering that the puppy has found a liking for rolling about in horse muck I can't cope with ! :D

Ours rolls around in fox poo where possible. As locally there's a fox population explosion going on this doesn't bode well.:(

Aren't Currys doing good deals on backup hard drives at the moment? 1-2 Tb using USB 2 and 3 or thereabouts? Useful part of your backup strategy.

I once calculated that 1TB of memory in the early 60s would have cost 1 year of world GDP! Now you can buy it with some vouchers that are about to expire.

It's bit like those predictions that one day every major city in America would have a telephone. Or that one day there would be a computer in several countries.

If you're on the Sydney side of the country, have you encountered The Preatures yet.?;)

I had to price up the cost of retrieving content from a broken external drive once.

I think it was something like £800 for a 120Gb drive.

We had 2 drives fail within a week of each other.

I learned the lesson, and now rotate between backing up to a hard drive and the RAID setup in a NAS storage unit.

Backup drives are useful, but not foolproof.

I upload to a Facebook album that only I have access to, drag into a new tab, and drop, then copy the photo and paste it here. It can't (from any way I can see) be linked back to my Facebook.

My latest cover photo, for example, becomes this

My TV (purchased in 2004) was about £2500, with the home cinema system around £1500 over that, so about 3 months wages at the time.

No blu ray, HD or anything else. I could replace it with a bigger HD one for £350 now.

I honestly don't see the point, though.

That's a brilliant image. Decades ago I was looking at a photo of this area with a mate who was a geography lecturer. There was far less light than in this one as it was in the 90s, and somebody said you can instantly see the planned economies, and it immediately stood out after that.

If you have iPhone, take the map and scroll out in the evening.

You'll get something very similar :)

    Great map CK, thanks.

The thing that stands out the most to me is the amount of light in what looks like Benelux. I didn't realise the population density there was so high.

Zag, sorry to be thick, I don't understand your point about planned economies, can you please explain? Thanks.
