That's as good as it possibly can be today, Gen. Good news on the obvious thing and a sensible doctor who will take precaution to make sure everything else is okay.

I'd want it checked anyway, not to be sent away and told I'm fine, so we'll treat this as positive, shall we :o

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Great news Gen, I hope that you are able to get the CT scan and blood test quickly and that they enable you to out this blip behind you.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

That's a good start Gen. What always annoys me is that "the system" doesn't just whisk you into another room and do it. Seems to be a lot of expense/time wasted with people having to get another appointment to return another day.

    All the best 'n stuff.

It did kinda do that. I went into the room next door for my blood tests (free with a ~10 minute wait which they apologised for - normally you can go straight in for bloods in the cancer wards, presumably because they have some urgent cases...? Not sure why).

The CT scan requires a period of starvation plus drinking a load of water plus a marker before hand so I can't do that today. As I've chosen to do it on a Saturday (popular) I can only get Saturday week. I could have had the scan tomorrow had I wanted to do so but I want to go to work. I have to pay part of the cost of the CT scan which will be circa $100 (£40) at a guess. There are charities that can help if you truly are broke and can't afford the cost.

The radiotherapy clinic is only on Tues ams (other days the same team do different things and different hospitals) so they are seeing me in a fortnight.

I think this is precautionary as the young doctor who saw me at first didn't want to get me scanned but the boss, Dr JJ, did. I always think his name sounds like a part of a Europop act, DJ Sven D ft. Dr JJ or something. In reality he is highly respected and clearly much loved by his patients.

I doubt they'd let you wait if it wasn't precautionary.

Sounds positive so far Gen. All the best.

Cheers all, especially to ivyleaf who is so lovely to everyone and I never seem to thank properly.

I'm sure this is going to be fine. I saw off cancer before and I suspect it will think twice before coming back and if it does I'll kick its [American word for donkey] again.

I confess I am a little bit scared. The nightmare is it coming back as, generally and AIUI, each time the cancer returns it is tougher to get rid of. If it's back in a year then that's not good. I'm sure it isn't though as there is absolutely nothing to say that it is except some symptoms which could equally be explained by other things.

    Finish the following phrases:

"Slightly overweight bloke on diet and exercise regime loses weight due to...." Cancer or Exercise Regime...?
"Bloke sleeping in room with wife that insists on having a heater on at night in late winter sweats at night because of" It being stupid hot or cancer..?

I might have cancer but I don't think that the symptoms are close to conclusive.

Cold flippers on a winter's night must be a nightmare to sleep next to although don't penguins have a thing that stops the cold blood cooling the warm blood?

    Yup.

Let's think of it like bowling out the Aussies for 60 or 89 in the first innings and then wondering how to progress from there.
