Welcome. i have been retired for 1 week so you and I have something in common already.

Last week a neighbour came round to take me to tea at her house. She picked me up in a fiat 500. When we were leaving to come home again I remarked on how luxurious it felt. ( I was impressed as I will have to get a small car but do not want anything too basic).

She told me it was the Maserati model!,Google tells me it costs £32,000, so I wont be getting one of those.

So is there a less bargain basement small car that you have your eye on?
    I think....

Today I went to Victoria Station for lunch and bought a baguette, crisps and sprite from Upper Crust, all for £1 on the o2 priority meal deal.

Then I went to WHSmiths and Boots and did the same thing, making sure I choose sarnies with a use by date of the 12th so that is 3 lunches sorted for £2.70 - the missing 30p is because each time you get a boots meal deal they give you a voucher for 30p off the next one.

Pretty much makes up for the 2.5k we have spent having the drive relaid :(
    I think....

We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

CK I hope the Georgia situation is not a direct threat to you and yours.

G or thoughts are with you, you handle this so much better than I would.

The border hasn't moved any closer towards Gori, and there's no sign it's going to, so everything is (and should remain) ok. It's only a Russian-controlled region, and it's possible if living inside this to get in/out on both sides, as Osset and Georgian passports are now valid together.

Most of my family are in Abkhazia, which is a lot less hostile, and unlike South Ossetia is more welcome to visit for Georgian nationals (although foreigners aren't allowed in from the Georgian side)

Sending positive vibes, Gen. I'm on computer now, so have been able to read everything.

So the good news is that the lump is the muscle hardening as a result of the radiotherapy and I can feel it better as I have lost weight.

The not so good news is that I need another CT scan and blood tests to make sure the cancer hasn't come back.

A promising start Gen, I think. Hopefully the blood tests are just to be on the safe side. And the desired results come ASAP.

That's as good as it possibly can be today, Gen. Good news on the obvious thing and a sensible doctor who will take precaution to make sure everything else is okay.

I'd want it checked anyway, not to be sent away and told I'm fine, so we'll treat this as positive, shall we :o

Hi gfplux, what languages do you speak? Was it hard to move abroad without speaking the language initially?

I have English and very poor French.
When I first moved here I used it as a base and commuted weekly. I have been retired 17 years and so it was only then did I live here 24/7.
Luxembourg is a little different to other "foreign" countries. Although the official Languages are French and German and most Luxembourgers speak Luxembourgish, most also speak reasonable English. In addition nearly half of the population are foriegners who's 2nd or 3rd language is English. So for someone like me it is not too difficult. I should add that my wife and daughter speak all of the above plus more so I always have a great support team available.
I like it here, it is not perfect but the social services are fantastic and the infrastructure is modern and well maintained.
One thing Luxembourg shares with a number of other European Countries is a lot of rules and regulations. This was strange for me having been born in the UK where there are virtually none. However I have learnt to love this. Society is much more ordered and regulated. This gives a great feeling of security. In the UK I believe you can live "under the radar" it is much more difficult to do that in a society like Luxembourg.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.
