Nikks, saw this on another part of MSE and didn't know if it would be something you would be interested on (if you haven't seen already anyway):

Thanks viva :) Had seen somewhere (MSE Email?) But they're not in my town (ie. Too lazy/ not worth it with petrol). Did circuits at work on Friday... struggled to walk over the weekend!
    Anybody watching Chinese school?

Its not dramatic, and none of the children are real horrors, just a little. Restless. But interesting.

I'm sat in the living room on my new (bright) deckchair. With a nice glass of red. A mini celebration. The first coat of gloss went on the railings tonight. They look soooo pretty :)
And as of today, my mortgage dipped below 60% :j

You realise we want pics when they are finished and in place, don't you? ;)

    :T:beer::j Well done.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

PN- I think you were accurate about the majority who just 'tick the box'. Is just that Lydia is more committed than that.

Lydia - of course there I'll bore everyone with pics. Going to be v. exciting. My first skip (parents have never had one). And I'll be changing the face of my little house...

    I'm proper ignorant it seems.

    Sorry.

Don't be sorry. All of us humans know little or nothing of the things of which we have no experience and no contact. One of the things I love about the NPT is that I get to be friends with people who know about different things from me, and we can learn from each other. I have learnt about libraries, Jewish life, banking, speshulness, horses, traveller families (from wageslave), the fashion business, and countless other things. I hope the rest of you learn from me too. You asked questions - I answered them. :)

You see, this is where you're going wrong.... if you'd hotfooted it down to the DFS sale and got a huge sofa on finance you could've had a much larger mortgage, at 70%!!

    :)

Debt.... makes some people feel better.

Deckchairs are for sensible people who care more about security of self than what others think.

The floral sofas that were left in the house when I bought it are going nowhere anytime soon.
Oh, and it's a singular deckchair :o no imminent need for any more. As and when I see some more on good offers (this was via an Amex Achica offer) I'll add to the collection. Life feels better in a deckchair (or maybe it's the wine ;)).

It's so bl00dy windy all the time! Not had any reason to sit outside this year!

Not good at all, we put the gazebo up over the kids pool and this year it has torn to pieces by the start of August and we only put it up at the middle of June. Not many kids in pool days either.

We are having the drive redone tomorrow, I may be the first person who has requested the pattern is a basketball 'D'. Does everyone else share my confidence that double glazed windows are basketball safe?
    I think....

    NPs.

    What's the concensus?

Fewer + bigger rooms, or more + smaller rooms.

I find these Beeb housing auction programs depressing. They always bang on about dividing up a big bedroom into 2 to maximise the revenue stream.

Why don't we just go straight to the end game, and just live in rabbit hutches? :(

The whole of the living space in one of Sis's house in Canada is open plan. Truly massive big windows over looking the Rockies. Surely a better living option?

Personally, I would go for more rooms which are bigger...but then I am greedy.

I really miss having a second downstairs room to relax in and my lounge/front room is not the biggest room in the world, for a lounge, it is really quite small. My kitchen is long but fairly skinny...so my personal choice for my house would be a wider kitchen, an additional reception room and a lounge twice the size it is now plus a downstairs cloackroom.

Upstairs, I would love larger bedrooms, especially youngest's room, an ensuite bathroom, a bigger main bathroom which can actually take a full size bath and ideally, an extra bedroom.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

This (the first bit, don't yet kow abot the second bit) is so true.

Clothes, food, having a big house, having a big car, school uniform, guides/brownies/cubs/football/piano/clarinet/violin/ballet/dance/drama/football/singing/cookery/netball/football all cost a fortune
Plus school dinners, school trips, birthday parties, birthday presents, firends birthday parties, holidays...you get the picture.

One advantage of a low income is that you get half price school music lessons :) Sadly school dinners are based on a different means test.

I wish! Full price here, no reductions at all, even if the child receives free school meals.
