My ex husband justified his affair in the same way, apparently I was an awful mother and wife, he did everything whilst I lazed about, I deprived him of sex, he did all the stuff with the boys, appointments, therapies etc etc etc.
It's not personal. They all do that. I read a book about affairs when LNE was having his, and it was astonishing how closely he was sticking to the script that the book described as what they all say - the same words and phrases, the same gradual progression through the process. I've spoken to other people in that position too, and haven't found any exceptions to the rule yet.His friends were against him initially but he successfully managed to get his version out and that is now the version being believed....even by my own brother. The boys went mental when my brother came out with it about a year ago as they remember just how much (or how little) their father did around the house or his involvement in their lives when we were together. From memory, he came to just one appointment out of over a hundred and then declared it was a child related thing and thus, my department.....that also went for all therapies, behaviour management controls, modifying parenting etc.
Unfortunately, we seem to be trying to fight a losing battle.....
That sucks. So unfair.
I was luckier than you about that. Our friends and almost all of my family (with the probable exception of one of my sils) may vary in their opinions of him (varying from wanting to knock some sense into him to regarding him as a wonderful guy who made an idiotic mistake), but they have all been supportive and affirming of me. But then most of our friends are of the "there is never a legitimate excuse for cheating on your spouse" persuasion. I've no idea what his family think - they live a long way away and I've no reason to be in contact apart from his parents.lostinrates wrote: »Living and laughing with aphasia.

So glad you can laugh about it with him. Thank you for sharing the laugh with us.Lydiaj - What a darling dog! What sort of size is she? Middle-sized?
Thank you. She's just a bit larger than a Jack Russell, particularly in the leg length. Much smaller than Avatar Dog, who was, we think, half black lab and half greyhound.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
In the past when Internet is crawling painfully slowly here our Internet providers have talked us through something on settings on iPads. I don't suppose any one here would know what that might be?
its painful.0 -
Earlier this afternoon, MSE briefly wouldn't let me do things with thanks, claiming that I didn't have access to the page or wasn't logged in or some such manifestly false excuse, but it seems to be working fine for me now.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Most of the time, today, I've given up and gone to other websites to waste my time.
So, if it's only MSE you are having trouble accessing .... please do not adjust your set!
No, us. Cannot watch films because connection is too poor and even Email is being unreliable.0 -
Have spent a lot of this weekend painting railings
Slight panic when I realised yesterday that the paint place had tined the undercoat with the actual colour. It's quite bright
But when we were putting on the second undercoat today, I looked at it with different eyes. Pretty sure it wouldn't be to everyones' tastes but I really like it
Reminded me of (when we moved into a magnolia new build) my mum telling me when I had my own house I could paint it rainbow colours.... Unlikely to be much orange going on, but I think it might end up quite colourful!0 -
As of today 3/8/15 I am officially retired.
I spent my last contracted day of employment at a gin distillery and at a restaurant overlooking a marina.:)
Lir you and I really need a get together. I think it would sound like a meeting of the Clangers:)
Lydia lovely doggy and so good that he has a chance of a loving home. As you know he will give you more loyalty than LNE and provide an unavoidable exercise programme that will be good for your inner peace.0 -

Best wishes for a long, happy and interesting retirement, Spirit.
Thanks for the lovely comments about Speedy Dog.I am sure she will give us as much love and loyalty as Avatar Dog did. We live very close to the edge of town, and can walk to open countryside in less than 10 minutes, so there will be lots of opportunities for exercise, although to start with we'll have to go the park with an extending lead until she's learnt that she's ours and she can be trusted to come back to us if let off the lead. The first visit to take Next Door Dog to meet her is planned for tomorrow (I mean today, but it feels like tomorrow because there's a sleep in between).

Congratulations on your retirement Spirit. I hope it is long, healthy and happy, with lots of interesting opportunities to experience new adventures, projects, learn something new, relax, etc.
To Lydia, I tried to post about Speedy Dog yesterday, but MSE was being funky and lost three of my posts. She looks lovely and there's something about her cheerful little face that reminds me if the pic of Avatar dog. Can't put my finger on what, but it's more than the colouring. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.
