Ploughing through the book, I can already think of things I keep out of guilt even though I think I'm not bad at getting rid of stuff on occassion.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Most of the time, today, I've given up and gone to other websites to waste my time.
So, if it's only MSE you are having trouble accessing .... please do not adjust your set!Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to forums.moneysavingexpert.com0 -

And milfhunter.com is blocked by work for some reason.
And at mine. No idea why.
I look forward to some scurrilous stories about Ms Black in the next issue of Pop[ladydog]. In the meantime, here is the result of a quick Google about La Black:

I'm below 80kg!!!
That's 12 stone 8.576lb which goes to show what an arbitrary number it is but yay anyway.
Well done Gen! I'm looking into growing taller but may have to adopt some of your stategies.
Like the idea of podcasts; can I recommend No Such Thing as a Fish (interesting trivia by the QI elves, such as which astronaut had to be hypnotised for a moon mission, etc.), and The Moth (true personal stories). There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Well done Generali. I'm trying to get below 90, but I'm stuck around 93-94.
I'm following Mrs Generali's diet. Obviously it has to be fiendishly complex in order to sell the website etc. but it boils down quite simply to this:
- 100-150g low fat meat or fish (chook breast, beef fillet, salmon)
- 150-200g veggies
- low fat, no or nil sugar sauce
- 100g brown carbs (brown rice, soba noodles, brown bread etc)
Plus a couple of snacks. I omit the snacks and have wine instead.
I would imagine that I'm shorter than you as I am shorter than most men our spheniscidian friend.0 -

I had already thought that too!
Thanks to all posters saying nice things about Speedy Dog. We are off to introduce Next Door Dog to her after lunch. Also agree re the doggies.
Lydia - will see about a photo later.... Get your sunglasses ready
Looking forward to it! Actually I have lost my sunglasses, and my spares as well. Probably need to stop waiting for them to turn up and just get some new ones.My dad once got so fed up wth casual 'leaving' he started plans of adding a sloping cover over every flat upper surface in the house to prevent it.
The lockers at my school have sloping surfaces on top for just that reason.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
PasturesNew wrote: »This is why I see every kitchen and see it's not fit for purpose. These days, cupboards are useless. One GOOD pantry would hold everything, neatly, no cramming. A simple rectangular ceiling-to-floor cupboard with shelves all around the three sides. Space for sacks of spuds on the floor - and the stuff on the shelves can occupy as much space as it needs as there are no constraining sides or tops.
Cupboards and most drawers simply don't hold things well.
You can't see inside cupboards, can't keep "similar things" together, have to separate stuff from stockpiles of stuff. You also often can't reach - most wall cupboards are completely redundant to people my height. Also, with this bizarre habit of hiding vital services switches and gas levers at the back of cupboards you create opportunity for stuff to slide down the back of the cabinet and/or the cupboard to be useless as you want to be able to reach in and turn something on/off in an emergency (maybe).

I would like one of those. I think it would be a challenge to design one into the average house where the space it uses doesn't leave you with another useless space, iyswim. Perhaps a downstairs WC would use the other space. You wouldn't want the doors opening into the same room, obviously.
My client has one just like your pic, but the house is huge and old, so it tucks neatly to the side of an inglenook.
Kitchen manufacturers have started making really useful looking built in ones, so you open double doors and they hold storage too, so you end up surrounded on three sides by default. Means you can see more.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

As of today 3/8/15 I am officially retired.
.
yay:T, have a fabulous time enjoying retirement.Have spent a lot of this weekend painting railings
Slight panic when I realised yesterday that the paint place had tined the undercoat with the actual colour. It's quite bright
!
My neighbours have quite dull tastes in painted fences, browns and greens - I went for Harvest Gold, looks really cheery.
I read Kon Marie's book and thought, humph, amateur. I'm the least sentimental person around and can't abide clutter. Though as the bathroom is being done at the minute, I've pretty much lost the will to clean and tidy. Roll on the weekend.
Pre-emptive woofs from mine to Speedy Dog - I hope you are both very happy together!0 -

Let's see! We're moving the house round. We have carpenter as a house guest and he's going to build me a panelled wall. I've bought a new ex-display sofa and a brand new chaise longue is on order. I'd quite like to do it all justice.
My books probably need culling. I can't ever imagine culling books.
Oh, and I've been told I need storage, not an office. Not allowed an office anymore!
There is stuff I just don't think translates tbh.0
