    Nice one Spirit.

    Nice dog Lydia.

    Sorry for your travails Maggie.

    Dodgy hugs all round.

It's my favourite day of the year today, the Bank Holiday. Bankers get the day off and nobody else. I work in asset management but we have a banking arm. Awesome. We're not as hated in Aus as in the UK. I dread to think what the reaction would be if bankers got an extra day off in the UK.

I took the kids to school and then went home and thought I'd have a cycle ride or do a potter round the garden. Then I thought, beggur it, there's one day a year that is mine and this is it so I went back to bed. :). I listened to podcasts and snoozed. I found a really good new one called Stuff You Should Have Learned in History Class. They did a great two parter on a plan to introduce hippos to the US to deal with a problem of invasive water hyacinths and a projected meat shortage. It was the perfect solution as hippos are so placid. So placid that they are the deadliest mammal in Africa.

Anyway, just a very nice relaxed day.

Lir, I have just purchased the Marie Kondo book for kindle.

I couldn't resist it. My office looks like hell again.

I have so much to do, but can see myself burying my head in this today and all my clothes suddenly on the floor.

    Must be good :o

    I've been Money Tipped!
I shan't tell you that as a once off tidying thing it has not worked for us, but some parts HAVE really sunk in. It is MUCH easier to throw away. :) I don't think anythink will train the others to put things away not down, :(

I am terribly guilty of putting things down and not away :o

Let's see! We're moving the house round. We have carpenter as a house guest and he's going to build me a panelled wall. I've bought a new ex-display sofa and a brand new chaise longue is on order. I'd quite like to do it all justice.

My books probably need culling. I can't ever imagine culling books.

Oh, and I've been told I need storage, not an office. Not allowed an office anymore!

    A timely discussion on tidying.

Yesterday I ventured into the study for the first time in ages. The study had really become the dumping ground for everything displaced during the house renovation.

I couldn't even get close to the computer desks over the far side! I will need to conduct an archaeological dig to find the printers.

It's weird how something can become a big deal in your head.

My dad once got so fed up wth casual 'leaving' he started plans of adding a sloping cover over every flat upper surface in the house to prevent it. I can understand this now, about weekly I get so fed up at not being able to see the kitchen worktops or tables that I put everythign on the floor and declare that if it isn't put away within a fixed perid I will assume it is not wanted and throw it away. 95% successful but a few vital things have been lost, not sure if thrown away or stuffed onto a shelf somewhere never to be found again....

Monday mornings are bad enough at the best of times, worse in the holidays when I am the ony one getting up and a new low today when I couldn't find my train ticket which resulted in both a financial loss from having to buy a replacement and my missing the train resulting in 20 minutes spent waiting on the platform for the next one. That 20 minutes could have been used so much more productively...as sleep :(
    I think....

I have seven rooms. You win on number of rooms per person by a long way. I'd need fifteen.

What do people really think about keeping credit card statements? They don't bring me joy and I never know why I keep the things. Bank statements are on line but some things aren't and they annoy the hell out me. In fact, half the new mess created in my office is unopened statements that I eventually open, keep one sheet out of the five plus envelope they send me and then file it.

I wish people wouldn't post me anything, ever. What's wrong with email? Backing emails up with identical letters that arrive three days later is even worse. What for?!!

Studies, offices..... I thought I was posh for having a spare bedroom!

Not counting bathrooms, (dedicated) kitchens and utilities ... how many rooms do NPs have?

I've three: one downstairs, two upstairs.

That is posh! There are five people in the household here, and if we each had three rooms, this would be a 15 room house.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Come on, as I just said above, that sort of maths doesn't work. You've also not got five kitchens.

One kitchen per cook would be nice. Then people wouldn't ram my pots into the drawers even though they don't fit unless stacked. Every time I unload the dishwasher I have to reorganise the drawers for things to fit.

One bathroom per person woukd be even nicer.
