    I really like these

    http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/50268138/

But I only need one or two of those fiddly little area ones, and many, many more of those single area ones. The three pack is not helpful in this instance. :( .

I think the colour is idea for dingy drawers because it is bright all the way to the back. I really don't want to end up painting cardboard boxes though. And that's the other thing, while they look great in an ikea drawer I don't know how well they will fit in our spaces.

I have a set of boxes a little similar but white. They aren't cardboard, but some kind of nylony fabric, and there's a zip you do up to keep them as boxes as opposed to flat layers. I think these are the ones I have.

I thought they would be useful, but in fact they're not that useful. Partly because they just lift my cosmetic bottles up *just enough* that they no longer fit in the drawer I was keeping them in before. If that makes sense? I wouldn't buy them again for me. YMMV.

Yes, they are small, huh? Only the bigger ones would be most use to me, and really I would want some bigger ones still as well.

One of the few things that has stuck for me from the marie kondo book so far, is how much more useful vertical folding is. However, I am not very good at it, and across a very large draw in particular it can be unstable, in in deeper recesses than one can reach. Our new wardrobe has little hanging space and lots of deep shelves, so I want to put things in boxes that I can quickly draw out, like low drawers, so I can see at a glance what is there, and stack easily, but things stay stable, and there is no reaching in.

Currently one of our hanging rails is full of the hanging storage that ikea do, like hanging shelves? This is great, but the ones for which I have drawer infils are much easier to keep tidy, while the ones which I can see into are easier to keep track of:o Because of my memory, so a half ( well, two thirds ideally) height drawer seems ideal for me.

Also, the ones which I have stacked best are stacked front to back, where as I would like to pack left to right, for better visibility ( the open ones are stacked left to right, drawers are stacked front to back)

Does this make any sense to anyone other than me?:o

Hang, just taken a couple of snaps,......let me upload....

Looking down on two shoe box sized draws folded vertically packed front to back

Looking straight at a ( very badly) vertically folded shelf of jumpers stacked left to right. My folding would fail the Marie kondo test. Everything is meant to be able to stand up by itself, mine does not. :o

With that sort of organiser, I feel that while it looks a good idea, the reality is you'll find that what you wanted to fit in won't fit as your quantities won't match the slots available and then you'll be annoyed. It might be better to buy a small/single piece of furniture with proper drawers that does the job.

Or 2-3 small/vintage/what style you fancy suitcases that can be stacked, kicked under the bed, or lobbed into another room on a whim.

What I'm trying to do is break down drawers in to more easily stackable/ stable spaces.

The small slots in the yellow boxes would have limited use, mainly I think for categories of underwear. DH could use some to divide ( in rolling technique) his limited number of longsleeved Ts, and running vests, but not all of them, where as the shoe boxed sized ones are ideal, smartest Ts, separate from other Ts, categorised by weight, for example.

A box double the size would be great for jumpers. Sigh.

One way round it might be to buy a 4 square Kallax and get four 2-drawer inserts. But then you're talking about a bit of a mortgage as the empty unit is £55 and each drawer insert is £17, so that's £55+£68.

Storage.... the thing we all want - and we can never quite find the perfect size/height/width/depth/colour/style ... and price :)

    Sturdy, but too heavy. :(

I've got some Ikea kids' storage boxes - that double up as seats (for probably somebody maximum of my size/weight) .... that are great for storing stuff. I bought two in 2007 for £7 each, but they're more now. The only "gripe" I have is that the lids aren't hinged.

They're more expensive now, but it's these: http://furnikidz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/White-Wooden-Rectangle-Kids-Toy-Storage-Box-Bench-by-IKEA.gif

    They're about 1' high, 1' deep and 3' long.

I can't find their name right now ... if you know what you're after on Ikea but don't have the name it can take hours to find them!

I've got one of these: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/50161321/

Bbbbrrrrrr it's cold. So much for the middle of summer.

Gen, if you are around, what's the mid winter temp there today? It's 13 degrees here currently, wondering if an Aussie winter is warmer than an English summer.

Today's high temp is only set to be 18, that will be lower with wind chill. I want to put the heating on, which is crazy for the time of year.
