It seemed hard to justify as the electric cost of the recovered heat was no cheaper than just heating new air via gas ch so it would never have paid for itself. It was more the idea of having filter air for my hay fever and the possibility of adding AC that appealed.
mhrv is exceptionally efficient in the right environment and can save ten times as much energy as it uses. You won't draw clean air through if your house is leaky enough to draw 60 air changes an hour by itself - which the average house probably would.
Plus you need the insulation to keep the heat in as well. Building regs won't be enough.
Will work on a passive house, unlikely to do jack in a regular one.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Out here in Venice at the moment
Don't worry!
I pre booked the rain ☺so it would feel like Manchester
The similarities between the two cities end there I'm afraid
Took DW there for a surprise birthday trip last year. Many regulars and lurkers gave good advice for which I'm very grateful. It's an enchanting place, bet you're enjoying it. Can recommend the secret tour of the doge's palace.:p
It feels like it's the kind of city where you'd imagine even the local abbatoir/sewage plant/gasworks would be charming. Best not to test that though.;)There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Oh and having visiting the biscuit thread, I'd suggest you take the vaporetto to the mainland and pop into a supermarket. Fill your basket with a variety of Italian biscuits, lemon-or almond-flavoured or whatever you like(don't buy their cakes; they're like bread dyed yellow).
And in the one-in a million chance you don't like them, it's a little -known fact that italian bins can't accept biscuits and the penalties are severe.
Bring them back with you and contact me for disposal advice which I'll be glad to help with. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Just been to the bathroom to find 8 baby spiders in the bath, they are very cute.
Tried to help a few out but the wouldn't trust me and kept running away from my hand.
As always we embrace spiders in our house, as we would rather have spiders then the things spiders eat.
Have spotted a couple of daddy long legs recently so I am watching them as they are like ninjas of the spider world and will over run my friendly house spiders if there numbers get to big.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

We had funnel webs in the back yard of our last house.
They are definitely not cute.It is a venomous spider with a bite capable of causing serious injury or death in humans if left untreated.
Apparently, whilst being at least theoretically fatal to humans, they are about as bothersome as a wasp to dogs.0 -

Ahh, no. You wander enough you find plenty of less charming areas. Which conversely makes it more charming, reminding you despite its tourist nature, its a living, breathing city too.0 -

You know there are a couple of small supermarkets in Venice? One not so far from the train station. Not huge choice...but enough. A bit like a tesco express.0 -

DD's boyfriend is Italian so I shall, of course, seek his advice as well.0 -
Have a lovely time hjd!
While we are talking destinations, any body know Vienna well? Have I asked this already? Might be about to get a Lot of pressure to visit. Not necessarily opposed, I'd like to go to Vienna....not sure about travelling of course ( I'd probably have to go in advance and recuperate for a couple of days ( alone, in a hotel) think, its the only way I can see it working. then of course, already being in hotel we'd stay there....0 -
I have not been to Vienna for quite a few years, but I enjoy my visits. Prater park. Spanish riding school. Exhibition waltzes for the tourists, like me. The opera if that's what you like. All good fun, but not worth killing yourself over. It might be a bit hot and dusty at this time of year.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
