I was, to start with. :)

I got an increase in responsibility. Once the timetablers have done the timetable, I now get to assign lessons to labs for bio and chem as well as for phys (which I've been doing for the last few years). It's fun. And interesting. Because the criteria and priorities are completely different for the three departments.

Now that I've assigned labs to all the lessons, the next task is to rewrite the code that takes the data and makes easy to read colour-coded timetables to put up on the wall, because we've got a new structure next year (6x1hr lessons a day, 2 week timetable instead of 12x30min lessons a day, 1 week timetable). But I'm leaving that for another week or two before I make a start on it. There's no hurry for it.

Fortunately I don't have to worry about the changes to A-levels because I happen not to be timetabled to teach Y12 next year, so I can leave the rest of my department to get their heads round it, and then they can tell me all about it when it's my turn in a year's time. :D

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

As a parent I hated 2 week timetables, always got calls to ask me to deposit the right books or equipment at school after offspring had the wrong week in his head.

I think there have been worse. Heard some schools have used six-day (or more) timetables, so your school week would start differently every calendar week.

Still I suppose if you can cope with that you'll cope with a lot that life throws at you!

My brothers had a 6 day timetable when we were in Australia in 1975-6. When I was at school we had a one week timetable but the lessons were 38 minutes long, so they started and stopped at weird times like 11:29 and 3:17. DS has a 2 week timetable and DD will have one at her new school. My school's actually going to have what I'm told is called a swing timetable - most of the lessons are the same every week, but a few of them alternate from week to week.

Have had a fab day. We went to London for the Anniversary Games at the Olympic Stadium. The stadium looks very different to last time we were there. The base has been enclosed with proper entry gates and there are now food concessions in the venue. The new roof and floodlights configuration work well.

More than anything, I wanted to thank everyone for their travel advice. We took the train to StP station then the Javelin to Stratford, it was very simple but couldn't have done it without NP advice, so thank you.

That's a long way .... bet he didn't try to lead you through any huge/open fields of big wild animals with huge scarey horns.... like somebody tried to do to me once :)

They were deer. With Antlers.Don't forget the dog that barked at us from behind a high chain link fence. A fear filled day in the New Forest.

    Hello everyone

Hi LydiaJ. Hope you're okay. Life gets on top of most of us from time-to-time. I certainly does me anyway.

So what did you miss? It turned out that I inherited the patent to the wheel but can't afford to sue to enforce my rights so continue to live in poverty.

michaels has been arrested for stalking PN. He got off on the simple technicality that it wasn't him.

viva discovered she is allergic to books. Luckily her library went ebook only that very week.

Maggie has sold her house to the Nigerian finance minister and has just paid the £100k required for him to release several million pounds.

Doozergirl has been made shadow housing minister by the Monster Raving Looney Party.

LIR and GDB ran off together by mistake but have subsequently returned to their respective partners.

Spirit has made the Paralympics squad for 2016 in the newly introduced sport of stubborn rehabilitation.

    Just the usual then really.
