Thank you so much, Gen. That will save me reading through pages of stuff. Wow! What a lot's been going on. It's so helpful to know exactly what's going on with everybody. What fortuitous timing for viva about the book allergy. ;)

I have a lot to do today. I really ought to get up and start doing some of it.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

No worries. Just glad to help really.

I probably missed a few bits here and there. Nothing of importance though.

I find getting up to be a great way of starting the day. Down the years I've found that I get a lot more done by getting up than various alternatives, e.g. not getting up.

If it does flap around relentlessly, would it be worth taking it off and laying it horizontally on the ground? It could then be either rehung or replaced when weather is a bit better. Taking it off and leaving it off will also show whether the wind will go elsewhere to cause problems if you go down the metal gate route.

Though if the weather there is anything like the weather here, staying in bed and doing nothing other than turning the radio up to drown out the sound of banging gates, seems far the better option.

PS Gen, I know someone who works in libraries and is allergic to books. I kid you not... they exist!
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Original plans for today being delayed now. I have a hamster funeral to preside over first. Once I've dug the grave, that is.

Weather wet and windy here too.

Crivens. Is the person an anti-histamine addict as a result?

I hope the loss thing is not a problem for the DKs (or you)

Perhaps of interest to you Lydia, we had our solar panels fitted at the end of June and so far all is good. It feels nice driving our car knowing that the marginal cost per mile is zero because it is our solar electric that has charged the batteries.

I used to know a nurse who had a phobia about cotton wool (as opposed to an allergy). She could only handle it with forceps. She didn't mind the look of it, just the feel.

Thanks LydiaJ :) I'm really glad your son's secondary school was so proactive.

Gen Thank you for your summary of what Lydia's missed, it made me chuckle :)

Spirit Well done on the walking :T

lir I love, love, love the wallpaper :j The wall looks to be an unusual shape. What sort of room is it in? (hope that makes sense.)

PN You be careful, we don't want you getting blown away. You're far too precious :)

Maggie How are you today? It must have been such a wrench saying goodbye to your old home. May you be equally happy in the new one.

An extremely diminutive walk in wardrobe. We've had a hanging rail and some slimline cupboards for shoes, but we bought a gorgeous antique wardrobe last week which is why we've suddenly had a spurt of activity. We wanted the wardrobe for our room but it would not fit, so we are squeezing it in there instead. It was too beautiful not to bring home:o. Its delivered tomorrow. It saves looking at modern solutions which might be more efficient, but less attractive, and gets things out of the way of moths.

This afternoon I have to clean the floor and start going through clothes. There is going to be much less hanging space for a while :o

Hi Ivy Leaf, thanks for asking. I've been totally knackered ever since completion, my sleep patterns are shot, not helped by OH's snoring!

Today OH set off in my Motobility car to take the first rake of stuff to caravan, with all the house stuff we hadn't been down since before Easter so no bedding, towels etc. Plus he wanted to take cover off boat and fill her with water. She's a wooden boat, so tends to dry out over winter storage, needs to have water in so her seams swell and take up otherwise it's a lot of pumping and baling for the first week or so! (rolls eyes) Also she can't go on her moorings until she's taken up as they don't dry out and we'd prefer she didn't sink at them! ;)

Got as far as Caernarvon when car started giving error messages and he says engine felt lumpy. Called out RAC who said it might be the fuel injector that it's a know prob with Renaults. Reseated the problem one (cylinder 3) and they went for test drive. But as soon as revs went up a bit error messages started again. So that apparently means we need a new fuel injector. Car is now being transported back to our local Renault garage in Liverpool.

I haven't a clue what we'll do if they can't get spare part urgently. We have friend who is staying at caravan with us arriving on Saturday. Plus once boat has been water soaked for a few days we need to launch her, not sure when the racing starts, but prob imminently after Saturday.

Meanwhile I did my back in yesterday packing luggage so am having yet another day in bed with a hot water bottle clamped to my back. Might try and get downstairs for a bit in a while so can have a proper cig rather than the electronic ones I'm allowed in the house.

    Aaaarrrrggggghhhhhhh! :rotfl:
