A very good YS result at Morrisons this evening because they were closing early and then they had posted me a £3 of 40 and the Sun (I know) had a 5 off 40 voucher.I think....0

Ogden Nash wrote the following ditty about french dressing:
A dressing is not a compot
A dressing is not a custard;
It consists of pepper and salt,
Vinegar, oil and mustard
I have had an acrylic dressing jar but it cracked in the dishwasher so I now whsk it up in a jug or if I have one shake it in a glass jar.
My recipe is the only pleasant memory I have of an otherwise horrible weekend with a very superior French family in Paris. My friend vincent was lovely but his parents rude and vile. his mum was a surgeon, chic , and a fabulous cook. She instructed me in making the dressing when I offered to help.
It was: a ratio of 6:1 olive oil to white wine vinegar ( she even had a specific grape) I use what I can get. A generous tsp of dijon a good pinch of salt ground pepper and a little fine (caster) sugar to taste. This makes quite a thick emulsion.substituting honey for the sugar works too but strongly flower flavoured honey can impact the dressing.
I have still not opened the low fat bottle I bought . Tonight we had and undressed mixed salad and a quinoia and feta salad with olive oil and garic drizzled on it, which was lovely. Dd wants to take some to work for lunch tomorrow, she does not usually take lunch so this is praise indeed.0 -
Thanks Spirit, I'm going to copy your dressing recipe next time I have salad. Sounds lovely. And the person I've heard it from is much nicer than the person you got it from.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? When we lived in Belgium for a couple of years we got into the habit of having mayo on our chips. Nom nom nom)
Mayo's the thing. Brown sauce is the backup/ plan B. Ketchup's only OK when the alternative's death by starvation.:eek:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Not sure I'm going to sleep too well tonight. Firstly, I mainly did sleeping yesterday. Secondly, tomorrow is my final day as 32-year old. And thirdly, I should hopefully have locked up my crummy front for the very last time. Please let that have been the very last time.0

We should have a NPT meet in September to celebrate Nikkster's third of a century. _party_Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I'll be so old my age will be measured in centuries :eek:0

Got the week off work and decided to pop up to visit the family. Bored already!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0
