Anyone use an eBay sniping tool?

The sniping facility is an extremely useful tool. OK it does turn auctions into a game of spoof but sniping is perfectly legal. Overt manual bidding well before the end is virtually guaranteed to start a bidding war so its not a wise tactic. Personally I still like to be at the machine so I can place a manual bid in the final minute but this is not always possible. Another snag with manual bidding might be to do with ones ISP as if the line drops just when one presses "Confirm Bid" you've lost it! (thanks a bunch Talk-Talk) It does appear that there is still a lot of Internet congestion in the far south west but at least the infuriating telephone message "All lines to Bristol are engaged" has become a thing of the past.0

gixen - online based, and free0

I also use gixen.com and it has never let me down.0

I have been using just snipe and swift snipe (https://www.swiftsnipe.com) - both offer free credits.
As with any sniping site that requests sensitive password information, it is best to keep a close eye on what is happening with your ebay account, and to change your password on a regular basis - I change mine every month or two.

Gixen. Gives a basic free service, but if you pay a small yearly subscription, you get access to the Mirror server as well. Brilliant. Never lets me down.0

I've been using JBidWatcher and it's never let me down. Free download and runs locally, so:
1. You don't have to give your ebay login details to any third-party website
2. There's no chance of eBay's fraud detection detecting the bid coming from a third-party server and locking your account out
The downsides are of course:
1. Your own PC needs to be on and connected to the internet when the auction ends
Well that's the only downside I can think of. I haven't had an internet drop-out cause me any problems so far.0 -

I wonder why anyone would pay for a service they can receive free from another site.
It's always nice though to welcome newbies to the site. We are however a money saving site, so most of us like to have for free rather than paying.
That way we can buy more tins of processed meat.0 -
