i use lotsnipe. only sometimes if im out and not able to bid myself. downside to this is i dont get quidco cashback using lotsnipe

I realise that. That was the reason for asking the question, to discover other peoples experiences after parting with the password and user name details. If for example someone had come on here saying 'do not use ezsniper, I had my account raided' then I would have known not to trust it.

I've used esnipe without problem for ages. You can set up groups of snipes so that it will snipe each one in turn until it wins one, and it will then automatically cancel the rest - i used this successfully to buy myself a phone at a price I wanted.

I tried out goofbay's sniper for a short while. It was OK at first, but then it stopped working and didn't place my snipes, so I've abandoned it. I got an email from them recently saying how all sorts of improvements had been made and that it works wonderfully now, but as the old adage goes, once burnt ...

I may do what I did before, which is spend a few weeks placing snipes with esnipe, and placing slightly earlier snipes with goofbay a few pence higher - that way if goofbay works then I get a free snipe, and if it doesn't then esnipe will be the backup. If goofbay sniper comes through for a few weeks then I might consider switching back to them. It's a lot of hassle though, and given that esnipe doesn't cost that much I'm not sure I can be bothered.

Also, some important info for anyone who uses online snipe services:

eBay Third Party Access - July 30

    (Tuesday, July 31, 2007)
Starting around 19:00 PDT on Monday, July 30th, eSnipe has observed an increasing number of eBay account failures. The problem continues to grow with more and more eBay accounts having their passwords reset by eBay. We continue to monitor this situation closely and will post updates as changes occur. PLEASE DO NOT contact our customer support at this time unless you need urgent assistance, as they are overwhelmed with the very heavy load of incoming messages. Here is all the information we know for sure at this time:
This is no longer impacting just new users, but a wide range of users with varying levels of bidding activity. It is NOT impacting all users, and actually still a small overall number of eBay accounts and bids. This password change could have been triggered by activity as early as Sunday. eBay is changing some user passwords (though very few) more than once.

I find sniper tools to be pretty pointless. I know how much I'm willing to pay for a certain item, I bid that amount from the start, and if I'm outbid, it doesn't bother me because I wouldn't have gone higher anyway.

I wonder though, what happens if you're bidding against someone who's also using a sniper, and you both set the same amount for the bid?

I use Goofbay - never let me down and it's free. There is also a useful forum on their website.

I used to use Auctionsniper but you have to pay to use it.
