Problem with new car purchase

1. even though you were a bit annoyed at the request for more documents, if you didn't want to travel back, then ring home (if someone is there) and ask them to e-mail a copy through to the dealership OR contact the companies you need these documents from and ask for them to be FAXED asap to the number you provided (aka dealerships fax machine). if that fails, then simply stating you had checked and doubled check what you needed can the sale proceed without them or be brought in at a later date, If not then why not asked the question, can you give me a lift back home, OR pay for my fuel/taxi there and back.
2. You've now created a situation that could potentially cost you more in the long run. With a deposit paid and dealership delivered on the order and V5c and in place ready for you, they could simply charge you for the incurred costs for you breaching the contract.
Your home now, I would call back the dealership and make arrangements to go back, eventhough this is a bit of pain created by not having the documents they wanted first off, I would use it as a bargaining tool to get something out of them, like matts flaps and fuel, a branded pen, a branded umbrella, a mug, keyring, branded jacket, low costs extra's anything to be satisfied with the lack of communication for the documents although now you've thrown a wobbly, I doubt they would be forthcoming with any request such as those.0 -

Do you really think he's in a strong position to bargain for extras?
The facts are if the dealer loses out, sues the OP would lose and be faced with legal costs too.0 -

So why even suggest it?
The OP already had the correct answers long before your confusing rant.0 -

TBH I would try to get whatever I could even in that scenario. Based on the customers always right theory because if you don't ask you don't get.0 -

That's the trouble with you, the law clearly shows your theory to be wrong.
In this matter the OP has failed to comply with his part of the contract, he and he alone is in the wrong so why should be get anything other than what has been agreed?0 -
If you had already traded your car in how did you get to the dealer?
I think the dealer should give you the new car for free as compensation.0 -

I didn't say this is what the law says, I just merely advised on what I would do. what I do and someone does is completely different, OP may not be as bold a brass as I am.0 -
