I'm concerned they're not cancelling it quickly enough as I want to apply for another card. Has anyone had a similar issue?

Even if they cancel the card tomorrow, it may take at least a month before the credit reference Companies get notified and adjust their records, the card will stay on your file for six years anyway, although show as settled.

I wouldn't worry too much, I'd just apply for the second card, and keep your fingers crossed.

Hmm that's what I thought NoviceAngel, but they told me the credit file would update "automatically". I am also going to cancel a Santander card this week when I get some owed funds to me. I wonder how they'll compare.

I've already had a search done recently for opening my Metro account (for the 0% comission in Europe benefit) so just don't want to mess up my credit file.

Hmmm that's interesting. Meaning I guess no point in worrying about my account actually being closed.

Do they show as closed or credit limit being £0, or something like that?

They are also doing away with photo credit cards. That was the only reason to stay, given no cashback.

    Moving on .....

I'm doing the same as everyone else, cancelling card today, already have an MBNA Amex 1% cashback card along with AMEX charge card for reward points but looking for a non Amex card for the places that don't accept Amex. Are there any Visa or Mastercard that still gives cashback or rewards?

    Thanks.

Quite a few already mentioned in the thread:

    Barclays 0.5% Visa Cashback
    Aqua 0.5% Cashback
Asda 1% Cashback at Asda 0.5% elsewhwere
    Tesco Extra Clubcard Points
    M & S Bonus points on spend
Santander 3% Cashback on Fuel, 2% Highstreet stores, 1% Supermarket but £24 annual fee
