  • Blah, shouldn't grumble as a lot of people worse of than me but I have been poorly over the last couple of days, really rotten with stomach cramps, lethargic, horrible cough and now sore throat from the coughing and a cold :(

Kids have had a rubbish half term as we haven't been anywhere, we did manage to go to the shops today to get a few things for Halloween and then had a bit of lunch at T*sc* but whilst eating I broke my tooth! Went into the dentist on the way home to book an appoinment, none until 19th November, luckily no pain at the mo.

So much I want to get on with but I have managed to order a few xmas presents for the kids, went through Qu*dc* for cashback plus got a £10 voucher for next order which will go towards dd bike. I also had enough points for v.o. so have requested a love 2 shop code, I'll probably use this towards a T..co order as I'm planning on getting a delivery just before xmas. Are their delivery slots 2 weeks ahead?

Some of the order is arriving tonight which is amazing, I'll have to hide them well!

Hoping to feel better tomorrow as well behind with paperwork and housework.

Oh no Chrysalis poor you, sounds like you've had an awful few days poor you. Oh no to the tooth aswell, will the dentist build it back up?

When you asked about Mr T delivery, do you mean groceries? I got an email today telling me they will email me when the slots are available as I pay for the monthly saver deliveries. It was end of Nov sometime but then I think the rest of the public get access to them? Do you get your shopping delivered as if so it might be worth signing up to the delivery saver to get the priority slots. I pay £3 a month to get deliveries Tues, Weds or Thurs. This saves me loads as I get a delivery every week and this weeks alone would have been £5! Hope i haven't gone off on a tangent here haha!!!

  • Hi mtg, yes for groceries. I don't usually get it delivered as my local is only 2 streets away so no point really but I thought I might for xmas as I hate it when it's busy, so thought I may get store cupboard things delivered and just get fresh fruit and veg a couple of days before as I like to choose my own of these.

Hmm not sure I might just leave it for now and not change it for a particular store just yet.

    Thanks for the info x

I hate shopping which is why I get it delivered so I totally get you not wanting to go in there, especially at Christmas!! DH works opposite a massive Mr T so if we ever need anything last minute he usually nips in on Christmas eve on his way in to work. I stay well away from the supermarkets in the run up, can't be doing with them!!!

All our supermarkets are 15 minutes drive away xx

  • Feeling almost human today, cough is still irritating and have a slight sore throat from it but gradually getting there. Just in time to go back to work, way behind with marking now so will need to stay up a few late nights to compensate. Poor kids have had a really boring week.

Got a bit annoyed this morning as I can really tell the difference when I'm not well as nothing gets done, so I've had to catch up with 4 loads of washing, do the dishes, and this afternoon I will get things ready for school and work. Bah, my hubbie is lovely but he just doesn't see all these things and if I say then he gets the hump so worse of two evils is just to get on with it. I will have to come up with a plan to get him to help out more.

I need to update ynab as pay has gone in but also money out for crimbo presents, I'm so pleased with what I've got so far. I do need to fit some more hours in this month as I've lost a few with being ill.

A beautiful sunny day today, in a t-shirt and washing hanging on the line. I can't believe it's November!

  • Well today I'm absolutely speechless and annoyed with myself, there was me thinking that I'm doing OK with the budget and things are ticking on nicely then I looked at the report on ynab and we have spent over £700 on groceries last month (that's food, toiletries, cleaning materials) and I'm truly shocked. :o:mad:

It's very poor and obviously we need to address this straight away, I've just sent a message to dh and he was stunned too. Half of that money could have gone to debt repayments quite easily.

We had a spendy weekend with it being dd birthday yesterday, we went out for dinner and she took one friend and my parents they paid their share but I paid £100 on food that was fine but we really can cook so much better at home.

That's the last of it, dh and I are going to batch cook some meals and freeze in bags so we can just get out what we need each day for evening meal and stick to a strict budget to get fresh fruit, bread etc. No wonder I got £30 in T**co vouchers!!!

So dd had a nice birthday sleepover with her friends, I only have 5 working days at this job before I leave :j and I think we will be hibernating until pay day next Friday.

Just about to work out if we have enough to last us the next fortnight, should be fine as long as we are careful.

    Hi chrysalis

Try not to be too hard on yourself. These things happen but at least you have recognised where you are slipping and have planned to put it right.

I hope your 5 work days pass in a flash. You have so much to look forward too.:T

  • Thanks P, how are you?

Yep just need to check the budget in detail so we can see what we have already spent from it!

I really can't wait to finish job, next Wednesday is my last day, I had a good chat with the higher Manager and we have discussed continuing working together in my new role without having to deal with current Manager so all good. She is also sorting out my missing teaching pay for me.

Also forgot to mention that we sorted out the problem with dh tax, the person in his company was the person at fault that said he used his company van for personal van last financial year when he didn't. He was really a**ey about having to redo some forms and it would cause him problems, so dh told him via boss in no uncertain terms that it was his job to get it right and to sort it rather than us having to find another £700! It was done, now all sorted with nothing to owe.

Always fighting for something, but well worth it.
