  • Hi Chrysalis,

Oohhh I bet the £700 was a shock, but I do feel like we need these LBM every now and again to keep up on track.

Cant believe that situation with DH's tax, glad its going to be sorted though xx

Evening everyone, hope all ok despite the weather.

It's the week before payday so very poor, I have a secret £10 hidden away for fuel and a few pounds in my purse should we need any milk or odd bits and pieces. I'm surprisingly calm that we are scraping around again but I've been very good at preparing some food to go in the freezer so I'm not at all worried.

I have been following Jackatapinch recipes, they're fantastic and will definitely continue with them, good quality food at very low cost. In the freezer I have bags of bean chilli, chickpea & chorizo burgers, plum crumbles. I also have food in the fridge including mini pizzas, mince ready for lasagne tomorrow and chicken for a curry tonight, plus veg and rice and other bits and pieces. All in all plenty :D

DH is away in Scotland until tomorrow so it's peaceful round here :rotfl: kids have been chilling out for the day, I am looking forward to finishing work on Wednesday and then doing some athletics events before I start my new job.

We haven't been able to pay anything off the debt and keeping an eye on the food budget, we are over by £100 so far this month and over on restaurants because we took dd out for her birthday but we are well below on spending money and fuel so not too bad, obviously need to plan and do even better. I had to spend the £30 T***o vouchers but I recieved £10 voucher in the post from a survey site.

I didn't mention as I didn't want to be recognised in RL but I won a comp on 1poll recently so had a £10 boost to my account :T

All is well with the my little world, have lots of charity and running events to do over the next few months which I'm looking forward to.

Off to make chicken curry for tea.

  • Good afternoon, still very windy in these coastal parts but not too bad really, DH is on his way home just passing the lake district so only a couple of hours away. Dd is making the lasagne ready for tea, she is currently wearing swimming goggles whilst she cuts the onions :D

Had to get a few things from the shop this morning and wouldn't you know it but they had loads of reduced meat just when I can't buy anything, never mind they'll always be more.

Trying to summon up the motivation to finish the last few files before I leave work on Wednesday, I might do all the little fiddly bits tonight then I have a long day with competitions tomorrow and then two full days in the office. I will get them done, I have to!

I have spent some time re-reading hypno06 diary from many years ago, if you need inspiration then go and check out her diaries one is on page 1 of all these diaires.

Need to phone the dentist tomorrow to rearrange my appointment this week as I can't afford to go and seriously debating cancelling the kids swimming lessons, we owe £70 from the last block and now £70 for this block. We have missed loads due to lots of other family things but feel bad for not letting them know.

Need to speak to dh when he's been back a few days (don't want to ruin his nice few days) about having a very frugal month before xmas so we are not struggling over that period, I also need to find out what date my new pay day is going to be in case I need to move any direct debits around.

    So much to do

Right better go as dd is asking loads of questions about the lasagne.

  • Hi Chrysalis, your comment about DD wearing goggles made me laugh :rotfl:. Hope the lasagne was nice.

Roll on Wednesday for your last day xx

  • Hello from a chilly land, although the sun was shining this morning so that coupled with a strong wind meant I could hang out some washing in the garden. Decidedly nippy this evening though.

Left my job on Wednesday, nightmare was still asking me to email things that she could get herself so surprisingly I didn't do it :D. I have already received my P45 today, I did get paid a fraction of my usual monthly pay so obviously don't get a month in hand. This means that things are extremely tight, I don't know what my take home pay will be for new job and I've had to pay the last installment for dd trip which is £150.

I've added all the payments due to go out until dh gets paid and we are well over, that doesn't include food, fuel, childcare etc so need to get really creative to make some money. I will get paid from 2nd job on Wednesday so that will help but apart from that it's not looking good. :(

I will find out on Tuesday when I start my new job what date I will be paid, but I also need to pay for my dbs check. I just hope that I can build the training department to bring in lots of money for the company and therefore earn a million :rotfl:

DH is getting annoyed that we don't have any money constantly, I know he doesn't mean it as he knows I'm paying off the debt, but he makes comments like 'I work all week and can't even get a bottle of wine' he does btw but then wants more.

I do need to catch up with surveys and have been entering some competitions, I will need to do another check of anything that I can sell. At least I've already got the kids Xmas presents, so just need to get for the men folk. I got a voucher for my leaving do so I might use a bit of that to go towards it.

Dh made a huge shepherds pie for tea and have 2 pots ready for the freezer along with 2 bags of the mince that can make another 2 meals. Shopping tomorrow after I've done a menu, I might put kids back on packed lunches as I'm sure I can do them for less than the £1.90 per day that dinners cost.

I need to sort out childcare to go back to 4 days after school club, arrrgh everthing needs paying for now it's going to be a frugal festive period!

  • Afternoon Chyralis,

Hope all works out well with you new pay date, its always a nightmare when you change jobs isn't it! I didn't get paid for 7 weeks when I started at the school !

Why do you have to pay for your DBS? I always thought the employer did those. Have you thought about subscribing to the update service? Just means its transferrable if you need it for another company.

Hi yes will be doing the update, but I read on the website that it's only possible with a new or fairly recent DBS. I think I have to pay and then when I've been there a while I get it back.

I do have the ability to do lots of overtime if needed.

Today we have been busy cooking, washing and spending family time together. DH has made loads of meals, dd is making soup for tea and I have made cakes for packed lunches and just started making a loaf of bread.

I have a long day tomorrow with athletics competition and two sessions in the afternoon so a nice boost for the coffers. Then start my new job on Tuesday, I will have the first week to reorganise the training room/my office.

Done a few surveys and competitions, nothing else to report at the minute. ooh I did get another voucher through the post so saving that for now.

  • Yes you have to subscribe within 18 days or something so do it as soon as it comes through. Glad you get the money back.

Sounds like you've had a lovely family day xx

  • Busy day all done, lots of mileage to claim back too so I need to make sure my timesheet goes in on time next Monday.

Surveys and xmas comps started, checked banking I'm in my overdraft already and two days until I get paid from second job. I'm looking forward to starting my new job in the morning, I'm going up into the attic in a bit to see if I can find a different bag as I feel like a change.

Packed lunches are all done, my lunch out of the freezer and plenty of food available for the week.

I need to drop off some clothes to a cashforyourclothes place to get a few pennies and some things for the charity shop. I've also recently changed my mobile as old one was continuely playing up, I'd had it for years so needed a change. Anyway I just need to get the photos off then I can recycle it for for few more pounds.

I had a sneaky chat with my dd explaining that money was tight and we couldn't afford a bmx for xmas, so she said that she would just say to dh that she had changed her mind and just wanted some new wheels for her skateboard. Such a good girl I have x :xmassmile

Yesterday I used my voucher from work and an extra voucher from surveys to get some sports clothes, I also had enough to get xmas presents, socks for dh and a jumper for ds. I should also get another £5 voucher as I'm picking up in store. :T

Going to get ready for tomorrow, night night.
