Hello everyone
I don't even know why I write about this on a public forum. I guess I just need to talk somehow. My guinea pig is really sick and it makes me terribly sad. I am an extremely devoted guinea pig owner and yet I can't help but feel terribly guilty.
I lost a guinea pig over the summer, my little tubbie friend, and it left me really sad. I then adopted Galahad from a rescue, as I wanted to make another guinea pig happy and give it a good home and cuddles and lots of space: and now that I have grown really attached to him, he is really sick.
I went for several appointment at the vet and I am due to go back very soon (emergency appt) as there is blood in his urine and he squeaks when peeing.
Anyway, I just thought I would come on here to "off load". I am very impatient and would like to go to the vet nowI am sure you animal lovers know what I mean!

Hi Ellie
Sorry to hear about your guinea pig, at least you are taking him to the vet, who will be able to advise. I used to have guinea pigs and their squeaks are so sweet, they used to get so excited when I went out to see them with lettuce etc.
Good luck later, let us know how you get on. x0 -
Awwwww Ellie,
I am so sorry to her about your little piggy. I hope that you are ok. At least your guinea is in the best hands possible and he has a lovely owner
Good Luck:j I can't do it all on my own, I'm no Superman!:j0 -

You are all so very kind: thank you. If Galahad knew, I bet he would be very surprised: before he was rescued, he was roaming wild in some back garden breeder, fighting for food with 50+ other guinea pigs. He still has old scar around his ears and eyes because he had to fight for his food and such.
The vet was brilliant as usual, but she is not a miracle worker (unfortunately). Galahad is in a really bad shape and he was admitted to the pet hospital for 3-4 days as they need to monitor his health to add/adjust medication. On top of his very bad ear infection, he also has gastric stasis which is very dangerous in guinea pigs.
If his health does not improve within 4-5 days, the vet said that we may have to put him to sleep. The poor little chap can't even stand on his feet properly because he is feeling so dizzy. At least at the hospital, he is given pain meds and the nurses are lovely.
Thank you everyone for your kind messages. I really appreciate it.0 -
Thanks for the update, will be keeping my fingers crossed for you. x0
