Was at the vets today and they said that if another one died then they would do a postmortem. Mercifully the other one that was ill has rallied a bit and is eating and drinking well. Thank you all for being so kind.

I think you've done the right thing, from personal experience some boars will never get on together, neither will some females either to be honest! I guess they are no different to people in the sense that not everyone gets on with everyone else. I know it's awful to give up a pet but look on the positive side you have done the right thing for your boys and have given a loving home to two lovely females in the process.

You might find that one of the females becomes more dominant than the other one, especially in the presence of a male (even a neutered one) but I've had groups of females and neutered males living together fine and it's usually a lot quieter than having two neutered boars together.

Good luck hope they all get on well!

    Hey all,
I just want to start by saying I WILL be paying a visit to the vet tomorrow, after losing one guinea pig this week to old age,
but I was wondering/hoping if anyone had any advice to get us through today.

My male guinea pig is 7, according to the vet we saw this week, constipation becomes an issue for elderly boars and to help with the impaction manually (she showed me how and I'm quite confident in doing this)

My question really, is what will be good additions to his diet?
He gets dry food once a day
and fresh greens, carrots and apple througout,
I read online about olive oil/mineral oil but was wondering how to do this?!

Any advice, on the oil, or other advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks, in advance.

After you've removed them is your boar eating the caecal pellets? If not you may need to supliment him with Vit B Complex. You can syringe feed him 25mg disolved in a little water.

    :)

Hey guys, i know this is a little bit cheeky and a bit of a long shot,
But i was just wondering if there was anyone in the Yorkshire region with a spare indoor guinea pig cage. I would be willing to collect within 25 miles from s70, Barnsley. I would only borrow for a few days or if anyone as one they no longer need i am willing to pay £20 & under and would freecycle after use. Were going to Goathland for a few days with family, I'm a little worried if i leave them at home with friends checking on them they wont get the correct exercise and attention my 2 lil piggies need. So we would like to take them with us. I ve already checked ebay, gumtree, freecycle and preloved. I have seen an advert on preloved but is a little further than i wanted to travel, but may contact them if nothing else comes up. Sorry to ramble on:o

Bertie has now been rehomed super fast by the rescue to a lady who has a lot of pigs from them and is really experienced, so Im really pleased.

I now hav etwo agouti girls, Betty and Glenys, and things seem great, although its taken martin a while to figure out that his bits arent working downstairs as they should lol:j
