hi everyone , my dd has 2 guinea pigs and one of them has just started to make a noise like he is trying to cough . has this happened to anyone else ?

In all seriousness I have read that guinea pigs can pick up colds from humans. Have your kids had colds etc??

Also what hay are you using? Some cheap hay has too much dust in it which can cause allergy problems. It might be worth switching to Kimberley hay for a bit to see if it makes a difference. (This is much more expensive but not at all dusty!)

hiya ,yeah my dd has had a sore throat and cold ..the hay is from pets at home .
it says it is dust extracted

Think you might need to take them to the vet if it is not a hay problem.

Poor wee soul! Just keep an eye on his water and food consumption but if you are worried then get him along to the vet, better safe than sorry.

Just to let you know the guinea pig that was struggling is now clearly back on the mend, she has put on a lot of weight and her condition has greatly improved. Thank you all for your kind thoughts, I thought you would like an update.
