I didn't realise that you could get a Alpaca from two peruvians to be honest, but obviously it seems you canThe Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0

I dont realy do the genetics of it all but its to do with the rex gene and I think Coco carries that gene, her hubby Heathcliffe was in shows and came from very good peruvian stock but coco has an unknown background but as you can see from pics is a fantastic example of a peru.....you can get fantastic perus from sheltie mums,a lot of breeders cross theres like a peru with a sheltie or coronet etc and cross them back and so it goes on until they produce the perfect perus.....its so confusing but the best perus dont come from a peru x peru....lots of litters are mixed such as 2 coronets and 2 perus. The alpacas that Heathcliffe and Coco produced were out of this world and better than many others I had seen it was a complete shock and the peru she produced was also a stunner...I dont breed anymore and only have a few piggies now but all perus....I realy love piggies.:hello:Time2start a new year diet for a new me:j0

I have some questions!! Im a new guinea pig owner and i have two male guinea pigs. Is it common for the other one to make sexual growling "come to bed" noises to the other and then try and mount it?
Also, when i stroke it sometimes it makes a purry loud noise, does this mean it likes it or not?
also can you buy a guinea pig poo bag?? HONESTLY!! poos more than my boyfriend0 -
You have to be careful housing two male piggies together as once they're a bit older they may fight and need to be seperated. The "mounting" and rumbling might be one trying to show that he is the dominant one, just keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't end up in them fighting.
My piggies make alsorts of noises when I get them out, sometimes they rumble when they're afraid, or it can be a content noise. You'll get to distinguish between them once you've had them a while.
Never heard of a guinea pig poo bag lol but to be honest I don't think guinea pigs can be toilet trained as they aren't all that bright  ours poo an unbelievable amount but we have ours on vet bed so it's easy enough to sweep the poos up.GROCERY CHALLENGE!!October £150/£158.61

I wouldn't worry about the rumble strutting - most pigs, male and female alike, display this behaviour. It's unlikely that you'll have any problems between 2 males as long as they have enough space; commercial cages purchased in pet stores are generally too small, which is often why fights occur.0

Fudge is quite relaxed, he lets things go and alf is more of an explorer. They seem to get on quite well and we have them out of their cage most evenings and when we change their bed. They also run around on the landing because there isnt any wires so we can leave them without fear of chewing!
Thanks for the advice!0 -

Sorry, havn't looked at this thread for a while, here's a photo you might like:
Back to the Alpaca, Peruvian thing. The two breeds are closely related, if you put a peruvian with and Alpaca you can get all of one or some of each in the litter, some of these babies will then carry the gene of the other breed and then their babies may be of the other breed! Clear as mud!

Did Rummer ever come back and post pics of her babies?“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
