Feel absolutely gutted for a stranger

I went to a charity event last night for an animal rescue shelter - a cause I feel passionately about. It was organised by a lady who paid for it out of her own pocket and it was widely advertised on Facebook.

A friend and I went along, and were the only ones who turned up. The lady's friends couldn't even be bothered to show, and it was her birthday too.

It turned out to be a great night - me and my friend got people from the main room of the pub to stop by. I gave as large a donation as I could afford and we stayed, danced and laughed, but I just can't get over how gutted I feel for this poor lady. My friend almost didn't come and if she didn't come I probably wouldn't have gone either, so NOBODY would have gone.

The thought of this devastates me - I just can't understand how people can be so uncaring about both the lady and the cause?

Why are people so cruel?

    I've been Money Tipped!
Perhaps they were doing something else equally as beneficial?
Never again will the wolf get so close to my door

Oh gosh, that is awful :(

Did she organise it WITH the rescue people themselves? Surely they should have attended? Does she work for the rescue or was she just doing it on her own?

What kind of event was it? Apart from Facebook how did she market it?
Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

In general , there are lots of people who are usually passionate for animal causes, it may be they know something you dont...or maybe facebook is just not the place for this type of event.....Pretty sad even so

No she did it alone, although the Rescue Shelter did advertise it on their Facebook page, so I feel it's a bit shameful to not even make an appearance.

It was a disco in the back room of a pub in the town centre. It was actually really good with excellent entertainment, even though it was just me, my friend and this lady.

I've decided to try to raise funds for her on Crowdfunding - I just can't get over it :(

Nearly 5000 like the rescue centre's Facebook page, and the event got 25 likes and lots of shares. I just don't understand!

That is sad. I would be crushed. :(

Maybe the wrong date was advertised?
    You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:

It does seem odd that the people who run the rescue wouldnt head along
Also seems odd that although the page has 5000 Likers, only 25liked the post about the event. Was it heavily promo'ed on the fb page? By which I mean every day, for at least a month or so beforehand? With all of the details etc? I run some social media pages for local charities and sometimes its just the way you promote the event, how u phrase things etc

I've actually just messaged the Rescue asking why nobody came along. The least they could have done is made an appearance!

No was only advertised once to be fair.

needed them to tweet about it, advertise in the pub, promote a lot on FB and maybe speak to the local paper as well.

Terrible that her pals couldn't be bothered though but I am surprised at the charity. Usually a local fundraiser would come along, if only to make sure it was being done right and they got the money.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

It is shameful re: her pals yes! The lady has added me on Facebook and I can see her 'friends' are full of apologies and excuses today. Terrible.
