    Hi everyone!

Hope you are all well! I haven't been online much so need to read back and catch up with you all.

My brother got married yesterday. It was lovely and his bride was beautiful. I was busy helping out with catering and decorations but still managed to really enjoy the day. I got home to news that I have been accepted for a masters degree. I need to check how many days per week the course is over as I need to try to fit work around it, but I am really excited! I am also considering a business opportunity that would mainly happen in the evenings and weekends. It will cost me about £200-300 initially but I think I could recover that quite quickly and it's the type of business I could invest more in to as it grows and then make more from it. I'm going to concentrate on getting my final assignment and dissertation done over these next 2 weeks then put some serious thought into it!

    Hi guys

Not been checking in as had a book delivered from a little ninja fairy and have been engrossed. :D

I have another 2 SFD's to add but honestly I have no idea what I am up to. I think it is 14-16 :rotfl: but will try hard to make some more before the end of the month.

I got my payslip complete with payrise and bonus. The money goes in on Tuesday. LOTS more than usual so am excitedly reading my payslip repeatedly. I know it is only one month but I should clear over a mini hurdle I haven't hit since I was full time wages each month so that will be satisfying :)

Anyway my diet has taken up an extra £100 of money I didn't have budgeted this month :wall: but I am feeling great and the headaches and migraine have receded. 6 weeks of this and I can start introducing a slightly wider variation.

Lots of love to everyone. Well done Bob for paying yourself, yes fmess a great idea to put some things back. A haircut is more necessity than treat though hun. It counts as keeping yourself healthy... mothernerd I am not honestly sure what to say about the freezer... surely you could leave it off with the washing in?!? :rotfl:

    Night guys xx

Lovely news about your extra pay. The washing is in the fridge freezer - I needed to use the fridge space but did not want to refill the freezer space as I am running things down. But it uses more energy and costs a lot more to have a freezer full of empty space. Normally I would use paper and card but I had washing. Will reverse the process once I have some extra energy to move large pieces of equipment about. It might sound daft but it worked - except DS3 asked where his pyjamas were. So had to explain to his sleepover friends - not sure they got it, then the sciencey one started asking questions.

Then there is the year they go up three sizes. Duct tape is very good for holding boy's shoes together.

    Wonderful news.

Everyone has enjoyed the sleepover (they want to sleep now - the wimps). There was enough bedding and I even got to keep a quilt for myself. DS2 has been round for a visit, he might be moving again so more options for the extra appliances. Quietly happy and getting better. I have spent money but not sure how much. DS3 was buying takeaway for everyone (me included). As it is his birthday I offered to pay and he should pay half the cost into my bank account but think he is paying more than half so not sure how much (rest of his birthday budget?) Will be less than the two shops I had planned and can probably get through the rest of the week. May go for the SM veg bargains on Monday as it is the last day I can use my bus ticket.

Today I am grateful for sharing, guests who bring cake and having enough bedding (planning a cull when I can afford decent quilts, though probably best to let DS3 wear them out).

If only they lasted a term!!!!!!!!1 She wears them out on the heels, and we even had 2 pairs on the go recently, alternating them. And they are both unwearable and worn right through. Unfortunately she doesn't like the Kickers style! And duct tape wouldn't work - shame, as we have lots of it...

mothernerd - glad to hear you are 'quietly happy'. I think that is a wonderful place to be. Ha ha to the wimpy boys going to bed just after midnight!

lilt - glad the diet is having such a positive effect already. You'll be a bundle of energy after 6 weeks.

Welsh kitty - sounds like a lovely weekend and an exciting time ahead. Congratulations on being accepted for the masters.

DrCarrie - well done on adding it all up. That is one big frog you have swallowed. Now to beat it down...

We are starting the day with colds - both dd and I are rough with it. We need to send dh to the shops as we are running out of balm tissues.

Dd is enjoying playing on her ds that our personal ninja fairy sent us

Morning everyone :) Sorry for the lack of posts. Ive been knackered lately.

Nothing much to report, but everything has been very spendy as the hallway is still being sorted. Ive ordered laminate, so just need to get carpet. As I'm not particularly house proud, I'm finding all of this extremely boring!

Well done Welshkitty, wonderful news :T and lilt well done too and yes I know the feeling of getting a bigger than normal pay packet and the keep checking of the pay slip :D

Ceragirl, I feel your pain. My youngest is like this with shoes and I'm currently looking for some trainers for school.

I need to catch up on everyones news, so sorry if I haven't mentioned anything and hugs to everyone. Take care and enjoy the day :)

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
That's great about your monthly total Lilt. Will you treat yourselves to anything nice?

Welsh kitty - congrats to your brother and on being accepted for your course.

Mothernerd - Glad your son had a lovely birthday.

I feel bad I can't join in the shoe thing, we're on our 2nd pair this school year & neither were expensive. Son doesn't seem to grow very fast either so clothes and shoes last quite some time. Maybe he's saving all that for his teenage years when things cost a lot more just to ruin me :)

Have done lots of money saving things this weekend, including making soup to use up leftovers, meal planning, roadkill finding, & lots of decluttering and tidying up. Also managed to get my bike panniers a lot cheaper than planned. Husband found a set for £8.50 per bag instead of the £39 I was thinking of spending.
Have spent a lot of time with my family both doing stuff and chilling so a good weekend all round.

We downloaded the paternity leave information from husbands work Internet site as well. They only pay him for the first 3 days although he can have 2 weeks off. That seems incredibly low. The joys of American firms. He says that another employee got the whole 2 weeks paid anyway recently but bit rubbish they don't just have a proper policy in place for everyone.

  • Hi all - seems like you've all been busy turtles this weekend! Lilt, congrats on the pay rise and Welshkitty, congratulations to your brother - weddings are lovely :)
I've been away all weekend visiting a friend - managed to only spend £13 last night, and spent nothing today! Drove home early this morning and have spent the day batch cooking (done dahl, cauliflower/potato curry, a tomato and sweetcorn quiche, and am just about to start on the chilli). We're definitely going to have enough to last us a fortnight, providing I can convince OH not to eat all the quiche tonight!!!
Hope you've all had lovely weekends :)

    Hi turtles.

Had a lovely day doing not a lot.

Went out for a long walk this morning that was the intention however overdressed it was warm so had a shorter walk no way I would have made it home with the antarctic clothes I had on.

Decided to tidy up my pots on patio, weeded patio, planted few new plants. Looks lovely and I caught the sun. Know I am under budget on my food this month so treated myself to an Indian takeaway half price on Sundays. Felt so guilty getting it, naughty but nice.

Sat on the patio this afternoon worked on my feet, hard skin gone, nails painted bring on summer. Started on my hands but they do look neglected, lots of cream and gloves on to soften them later.

Academia put me to shame all that baking. Need to cook some rhubarb I always overcook it, thinking of a strawberry/rhubarb crumble. Strawberries would sweetened it? No apples in.

Welshkitty congratulations to the newlyweds. Great news of yr masters.

Applemuncher hope you and yr daughter feel better soon.

Mothernerd birthday bash success then woo hoo. Didn't realise you had the freezer on laughing my head off.

Bob seems very low paternity leave. I work for a small firm and even our direct labourer got 2 weeks off. Great news for panniers ;-)

Right going forth into the kitchen crumble making time x

  • Calling, I love rhubarb crumble! Let me know about the strawberries, not tried that before - should make it nice and sweet :) I usually use Sundays to do the week's cooking - I hate the idea of veg in the fridge slowly going mouldy before I can cook it! Managed to get over three weeks' worth of evening meals in the freezer, I am very pleased about that! :D

A SFD. Quiet day. Visitors mainly left mid-afternoon. DS3's gf has been given her shifts for the week so she can stay a few more days. All meals from other people's leftovers. This was good as I had only eaten half of my meal so that I would have some for today - but when DS2 came round he scoffed it. Taking it easy as was not feeling great earlier and caught my foot on the end leg of the bed and nearly went flying.

Today I am grateful for leftovers, sunshine (spent some time just watching sky and patterns of little fluffy clouds) and music.
