Ah Mothernerd you sound like you had a great day out. Your mobility improving must be such an amazing thing for you. The young lad you met sounds very nice, what a shame he'd been through such a lot already. Hope the booze isn't a permanent fixture. I think it's normal you saw a lot of nice things and wanted to buy them. The weather, feeling optimist about the future, all makes you more likely to want to buy.
Lilt -the birthday meal sounded fun. Glad you got the duvet of your dreams as well. Make bed time even cosier." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Morning everyone:)
Lilt, Calling, I am so sorry to hear your sad news. Sending you both lots of hugs.
Academia, totally agree the jelly will be fine.
Welsh kitty your days out sound great
Bob you had me laughing about the underwear. The state of mine, its a good job I'm single :rotfl:
Mothernerd, well done on getting out and about yesterday :T
My mum is feeling much stronger now, so very happy about that.
I got really annoyed with the council tax people yesterday. When my oldest started his uni course in 2011 I gave them his exemption certificate and details of when the course finish twice, due to them losing it. I also did the same the following year. I was told on the telephone that his exemption is now all on file until his course ends and as I carried on getting the single persons discount I assumed all was well.
When his course finished last summer, I assumed they would automatically adjust our bill and include him. To this day, they have not.I rang to query this yesterday and they wanted to know the date I handed the info in, when his course finished ect  I told them this should be on their system and explained the above. I was told their is no record of any of this and no-one is registered apart from me living at my address to pay, but my son can contact his uni for another certificate, otherwise they can only backdated it to March, when it has to be backdated from when it finished. Now, what annoys me, is why, after sitting in their offices for an age, twice before to sort this out, am I spoken to like ive tried to defraud the system  Also, I know when he had to pay and assumed they would act on the info I gave them and adjust my bill.
I don't actually feel the lady was checking the system for evidence at all and I will leave DS to get this other certificate they request. I'm not stressing about it, as I was fuming yesterday over their attitude and if they bother to searchproperly, they will find the info and can send us a backdated bill.Sorry for the rant, but when your treated like that for being honest:rotfl:
Spending wise, all the expected spends have taken place. The hallway is coming along, but I know the money for the flooring wont be available until after I'm debt free. My ex is a dab hand at floor laying and at a push, he may be able to carpet the stairs, but my pride wont let me ask him. Not that my pocket wants to pay 1.5k for the flooring and carpet carpet right have quoted, lol. My middle son reckons we can get something cheaper. I know nothing about carpet though. My last one 10 years ago, was a remnant of expensive carpet I was lucky to get for 85.00 and I laid it myself. Now, I want a more professional look, lol.
Well take care everyone and enjoy the weather, while it lasts:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -

Welshkitty congrats on the roadkill, you could have popped in for coffee I live near the zoo.
Bob my friends kids well youngest is 19 so not really children but to have lose both parents in just over a year is horrific. Especially so unexpected as well. Sad thing he had just started dating, happy, new gf on the bike as well and her life support was turned off yesterday. I don't know her but just thinking how many lives are now turned upside down by one accident. All my dog walking mates are in a state of shock, very sad seeing them last night. Lilt with you there hate Motorbikes you have no chance at all on them.
.Traveller I have horrid old fashioned laminate flooring in my hall but spent 30 pounds got a lovely shag pile rug over it. Looks fab never thought a fawn one would last, but shoes off policy works lol. I could do with new stair carpet but cleaned this one enough for now.
Aiming for a SFD but could be tempted into a bag of chips and sit on the beach after work with my cutie grandson. Make the most of this nice weather.
Mothernerd glad to hear lovely people about, your shopping day sounds ace. Bet you are doing more exercise than me now.LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -
Calling- well glad they are not tiny tots but to lose your parents suddenly in such a manner must be really hard. And you must be in shock yourself. So sorry. I used to date a couple of bikers and they all had stories to curl your toes. My OH had a bike till we decided a car might be better. He still misses it but I am happier he just walks or cycles now." I must admit Calling, reading that this morning, did make me put things into perspective. It is so sad to read something like that, let alone experience that. My heart really does go out to the family and friends.
Thank for the flooring advice :T Due to cat damage, the stair carpet is thread bare, lol. But, I will get something cheaper. It makes no sense, to beat myself up over something I cannot afford right now. I think I'll look for some rugs myself:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -

Well this is the thing Bob, I have no figures from them so, I'm going by the fact that he finished in July sometime. So from then up until now. They say they need another certificate. I'm sorry but they can wait for him to drag his heels getting one. He will have to and has agreed to pay any dues as we were prepared he'd have to although he's not happy. I just hope they send a correct bill through. I was so angry on the phone, when she kept up her computer says no act, I just said thanks and bye:o I have no idea how they wish to solve it other than hoping they send me another bill, based on the info I know they must have. I remember getting them to give me the discount, so they must know of his existence, otherwise why would I have bothered:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -

Oh, I lived 5 mins from the zoo until we moved last July! I wonder if I ever passed you out dog walking?? We have moved 10 mins down the road and now have views of the castle from our house. We love it here! The old house served a purpose but the area we were in changed during the time we were there and it became time for us to leave. We still own the house though and rent it out.0 -
Hi all!
Traveller, the jelly was okay, but it’s sugar-free so is a bit…bland! The tinned fruit was much nicer!
Apple, it’ll save me about £240 a year, which I’ll either use to pay more off the mortgage, or put in my ISA every month
Well today has been an unintentional NSD – and it wasn’t for lack of trying! OH has just got back from the chip shop, which is closed until next week!!! Oh well, we do have food in, so it’s for the best really. Managed to persuade OH to walk to work today (it's only 2.3 miles for him) so he's saved a bit of petrol too. I work 20 miles away, and I'm not walking that!
OH had a spendy day yesterday – got a plumber to come look at the shower, who charged him £90 for a five-minute “diagnostic” (he didn’t even touch it, looked at the light that was flashing and said, “you need a new one!”) – I am SO livid with him, he’s hopeless when it comes to tradesmen. So they’re going to ring us back with the exact price of a new shower, and do the fitting for no additional cost as we paid for an hour of time and he was hardly in and out the door (this all thanks to me ringing and being narky at them) and if the shower costs more than I can get it for in a DIY shop they’re not even going to do that much! OH has learned his lesson though I think.
I’m heading to Berlin tomorrow (budgeted for!) so won’t be around for a few days – hope you all have a good week whilst I’m awayBought my first house in 2014 - now, to be mortgage free!
