Hi everyone!
Lilt hope Jelly had a wonderful birthday!
I was back to work yesterday. It was a loooong day with loads of people moaning again! Took lunch with me and it was a SFD.
Day off today. Am hoping to stay home and get some assignments done but am sure everybody else would rather another day out!0 -

Hey everyone, really bad at posting this month but have read everything. Sorry to hear your sad news Calling and Lilt, and happy belated birthday to Jelly. Well done on the self-supported bath mothernerd must be great to know you can do it, and don't have to travel to your mum's for one now.
I've spent one day this month so far - went to Aldi and Tesco on BH Monday to top up some food - about £22, and even that was a massive procrastination as I was hunting for reduced Easter eggs (not a sausage) and putting off writing a lecture. I haven't done proper budgets yet but that is my only spend so far, and 8 SFDs.
I did an interesting exercise the other day that you guys might like if you found the frog-eating from mothernerd helpful. The task is to think of your biggest psychological demon - it could be a bad habit, a personality trait or a cloud that sometimes hangs over you. Write down what it is, what it is like and in what situations it arises, then give it a name. Finally, think how you could harness and re-employ the demon to work for you instead of against you in the future.
My demon (as you can see from the lecture procrastination above) is self-sabotage - when I have too many competing tasks or tasks I don't want to do I either do nothing at all or procrastinate. I sabotage my own chance of success by leaving hardly any time at the last minute to get things done, and don't let myself do anything 'fun' in the time I'm wasting beforehand. My demon is called Le Saboteur and has a French moustache (the naming bit is about taking charge and in my case ridiculing the demon!) I haven't quite figured out how I could make Le Saboteur work to my advantage, so any help would be much appreciated! Does anyone else have a demon they need to transform?NST September: SFD 17/20, food £62.87/£60, travel £61.55/£40, Outings £39.80/£100, Allotment £7.17/£30 Other: £42.32, Meditation ?/30.

Calling - winx is just a kiddie film. Sort of about fairies and the usual good vs bad storyline. I'd not heard of it u til dd talked about watching it next door. I found this film on utube and downloaded it.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

I do - I think it's a form of destructive nostalgia for a life left behind some years ago. Found items of all kinds stop me in my tracks and slam me with memories, some so strong and emotionally loaded they literally leave me unable to think or do anything else for what seems like an eternity. This month's decluttering challenge has both helped and hindered me in getting to grips with this.
I have decided to name it "Recuerdo" the power of recollection. How I can deal with this is to put or give away the items that do this to me and I started this afternoon with a pocket compass that belonged to my late first husband's great uncle. I passed it to my brother-in-law so it would remain in his family. He was delighted and I've removed it from my house. Win-win...
In my ramblings, I completely forgot to mention that I've sorted my shoes and have 10 (yes, 10) pairs for the charity shop...0 -
Evening all,
I am back in the land of technology and have read through the last week of your postsLilt and Calling, I'm so sorry to hear your sad news, hope you are both doing as well as possible. Mothernerd, congratulations on the increased mobility and bathing at home.
Dizzy imp - the most important good habit that you can get into is recording every purchase you make. Once I see mine in black and white, they really hit home as to how much I over spend and where I can make savings. I now ask for a receipt from every shop, shove them in my purse and then clear out my purse and log them on my laptop when convenient.
Sounds like many of us are having a spendy time with the Easter school holidays, Bank Holidays and warm weather. I know I can't preach as thanks to two expensive taxis to the airport, my personal budget has already been blown. My personal spends budget is now gone so the plan is to be very strict with myself andspend nothing more until 25th/next payday. No takeaways (my downfall), socialising that involves spending, chocolate etc. I need to stop rewarding myself for doing well, when I haven't finished yet. Does anybody else do this?
The food budget is pretty intact and the cupboards and full so a small perishables shop may be needed over the weekend to get ready for sandwiches for lunches etc.

Hi Guys
Welcome 'home' fmess glad you had a lovely break. And even coming back with money wow!
Synonymous -what a great idea.
Dizzy -one of my favourite poems is by Ciaran Carson in which he says 'for their are memories that have no name' he goes on to talk about how smells, touch etc can bring back memories we'd forgotten we even had. Do look it up if you get chance it's beautiful. I think the point being we don't need things to recall the moments that have meant something to us.
We'll today was a good day in the business. Thank goodness. After a ghost town like feel all week today was like human flying ant day, you know when they all appear on the 1 day out of nowhere. That was my place today. People I'd never seen before, people who I used to see about 3 years ago. Weird. But not complaining.
I got £5 in tips & also found 22p roadkill today which helps the wombling total.
Not a no spend again. I have been in the trap of not having time to do a big shop recently. I was devastated last Sunday having made plans to take a taxi home which I never do, to carry my giant haul to discover the shops were all shut. So this has been another week of having to grab food each night. Hoping to try that again this Sunday!
No real news to report so I will say good night
