The testing account I was using still has 151 posts as it did before, so seems they still exist and not been soft or hard deleted. Just that whatever boards they reside on now is not one that is accessible to us.0

I appreciate your opinion but a couple of hundred users voting on this thread out of a user base of thousands is hardly a majority!
We represent active users. The user numbers are hardly accurate of actual posters using the forums daily.
But again, why should YOUR opinion, someone who admits to being used to this view type be more relevant than ours? You do not represent a majority eitherI don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

I think there's an awful lot of white space framing the familiar green, so this browser must be out of date.
And I need to figure the brightness settings as wearing shades in the office is a bit daft.0 -
Yes you can - its called a responsive website that produces a different style depending on what device it detects it is being viewed on - I would imagine that is exactly what they have done with the new design. Although I only saw the desktop version yesterday and it looked very good to me. To be fair though I do manage my own ecommerce websites so fully understand the requirements Google are imposing on webmasters (if they don't want to disappear in to the Google ether). I'm also very much for the modern look and feel of the clean/plain/white websites which is why I really like th new version.
This green version is ageing fast and is already out of date in my opinion. That might not matter to many of the older users but for the future of the business, they need to keep up with change or be left behind.
I guess for them its a risk between losing long standing regular members or losing many thousands of potentially new members because the site looks like it was made in the 90's.
I understand its a tough call, but as a business owner myself I know what I would choose.
No problem singling me out - I'm very thick skinned
I'm not taking offense only trying to explain to you, someone who made the above post, that not everyone has the opinion that the current colours or layout is from the 90's. Some of us use it every day without issue & the changes shown yesterday will be a major problem to us. The actual physical symptoms the screens produce as well as creating additional steps to post where currently there is only one will drive us away in droves. I can't actually risk my vision in order to help all these "new" users the owners hope to get.
The developers of this site need to find a happy medium. Ignoring the loyal & active current posters is not only arrogant but stupid. Thousands of helpful posters will no longer be around to drive the forum & content.
Oh & fyi, I'm younger than you & have been using interwebs for years. I run a site bigger than this but we don't ride roughshot over our users & have 13+ year users still actively posting.I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Any chance you would let us know which site this is please?0 -

The only proof will be in the proverbial pudding if MSE do decide to remove the old template forever. It will be a very interesting time.
I realise I am not airing very popular opinions on this thread - call me the devils advocate if you like - but I just find some of the views here rather amusing. The person who suggested that all the dissatisfied people should remove all their posts before leaving for good was especially special!!0
