Weekly Flylady Thread 6th August 2007
Hi all,
After being out all day yesterday with the kiddie winkles i have decided to get on the ball today,
OK I have to admit hubby is off work for a fortnight so i have roped him in to help!
I feel alot better for doing the daily rooms since being lapse for the last fortnight, but i really do wish i could muster the energy to tackle the shut off behind closed doors hot spots of the house that nobody ever ventures into.
Hope you are all well, we are off to edinburgh to the festival for the next 5 days then stopping in at inlaws in newcastle on the way home so next week will hope to be as motivated when i get home.
Leigh xx

Pick one or more of the following tasks –
- Clear one hotspot, or just spend at least 5 minutes tackling it
- Clear one shelf, dust and replace items after giving them a wipe over

- Using the idea Shirley suggested, get yourself a bag or box, go around collecting things that are not in the place they should be, then put them back where they should be. I did this last week and had 4 bags, one for each of us, once they were filled they were all given their own misplaced things to deal with

Extra tasks list, as usual choose one or more- 27 fling boogie time, time for that midweek fling, go on grab a bag and clear that clutter
- Sort one drawer, making sure only what should be in there is, anything that's had it's day or doesn't belong there is removed

well actually its turning out to be an ok day so far. DS woke him beside himself with the spots, and was miserable all through a very late breakfast. I had to feed him, he said holding the spoon hurt too much, and I thought I was in for a moiserable day. Hubby popped home to look after them while I went off for my 34 week check with midwife (surgery said def not to bring pox ridden son) and when I got back he said DS nd DD had played really nicely the whole time. Well, that was 3 hours ago and its continued since :T
We had an indoor picnic lunch which DS ate a fair bit of although he only ate a third of a pot of chocolate custard (normally he would eat 6 given the chance). Then I put DS in a nice bicarb bath and he's been in for about an hour!!! He is so happy in there floating about I can't bring myself to make hi come out til he wants to. DD is playing nicely too though she has just come in with a rather large oile of unravelled loo roll saying "Mummy whats this and I didnt do it" :rotfl: Then she said "Wit just fell off by itself" :rotfl: oh really ???
I've managed to get the filing done in the study, it looks so tidy now, and phone my Mum for a Dad update. He has now had the boxes removed that the chest drains were draining into. Instead he has bags atached over his shoulder on a strap. In my mind I imagine they look ike those radio gubbins that big brother people wear over their shoulder on a strap LOL. This means he can walk (with a zimmer) to the toilet and back ON HIS OWN :T :T He has been able to make this short trip for the last week or so but had to call a nurse to carry the boxes. For him to be able to do it by himlsef now is fantastic
Hope everyone is having good days and (((hugs))) to those in need

Jill - thats fab news about the men in your life (yes all of them). DS must be feeling better if he is up to playing so maybe you are over the worse. DH for giving you a must needed breather (even if it was just to the midwife) and Dad 'cos I am sure no that he has a bit of independance his spirits will have been lifted.
We are getting near the end of The Sound of Music (I think), the Captain is just about to admit he loves Maria. Amazed the kids are still watching it but I guess its down to the popcorn and lollies they have been scoffing - lol.
Have decided to leave doing our room until Friday as littles are off to MIL for weekend (gonna try 2 nights, MIL is on about 3 but dont know if I could go this long without seeing them - even if they drive me mad!lol). So will give our room a good going over and then DH can do the littles room on Saturday while I am at work (he he he).
Right must put the chicken in.0 -
Congratulations JillD, that's great news!
Serena and heavenleigh I'm dead impressed at how much you have achieved today!
Have just got back from town, where I had a massive lunch (feeling enormous now) and I ran into my old English teacher from school, which was nice. Feeling shattered now though due to my gluttony, and feel an afternoon mouse-nap coming on before I change the sheets and have a 27 fling boogie.
Ebony (recently 3-legged cat) has decided that it is too hot in the flat, and has gone to hide in the bushes outside seeing as the nasty cat from upstairs isn't out there.
Well, I'm off for 40 winks now and next time I post I promise that I will have done something off the list.

pigpen - nope thank god it was the other way around, DD already had them :j In fact she had them when we were over in NIreland attempting to visit my Dad - kids couldn't go to see him cos she had pox
Never mind. So once DS is over it thats it for now (at least til imminent #3 LOL).
He's out of the bath now (must have been at least an hour maybe even an hour and a half  ) and they are playing garages or something together. As soon as a fight breaks out we are off to Blockbuster. For DVDs and chocolateIts been such a good day today, with having to cancel picnic and park trip I was thinking it would be day from h3ll too
Hubby has agreed to come straight home at 6pm and not take this lassie from work out tonight either, to be honest I should be ok with the kids on my own tonight but reckon I will just let him come home and help as I am pretty knackered. I feel a bit guilty though. She's only 21, and its her first ever business trip. He says he has never felt like such a Dad at work LOL
Anyway, why is it the less you do the more shattered youi feel ???Jan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)

Sounds like Chicken Pox is going round here aswell, my friend's just called and having to keep her daughter in the house, she has leukemia, it can be really dangerous for her to catch it so they're stuck indoors as the kids are playing out who have it. Last thing she needs is another stay in hospital. Best keep an eye on my DS2 just incase aswell. Pleased your little DS is feeling better Jill, bless him, I can't remember having chicken pox very well but I don't think it was pleasant! Great news about your Dad aswell.
Oh I'm having an ARGH OH NO! moment and a YAY moment all at the same time. Thing is I bought another second hand oven 3 years ago to replace the broken 2nd hand one I had, well it broke today much worse. It was already warped (the top of the oven where the pans go is so warped the pans slide off) when I got it, the ovens always leaked heat but I was coping. Until when cleaning it today the glass fell through!!!! Anyways, some how will have to cope without an oven for a week, ordered a spangly new Zanussi one with a double ovenwanted one with a double oven since we got our own home
fancy ceramic hob and everything
Ok it's not an AGA but we only have 55cm space so this is the flashiest I can get
Oh and I haven't used my spangly new pans yet so I'm keeping them to use on my spangly new cooker
Wonder if we'll find out my baking is just really bad as I've been blaming the leaking oven on my disaster cakes and yorkshires
Now the 'ARGH bit', I oven cook most things, I now don't have an oven, I don't have a chip pan etc for chips, DS1 can't have pasta and dislikes the GF stuff, hates rice, boiled potatoes etc, so I'm erm, probably going to be relying on the chip shop :rotfl: nah just kidding, will see what I can find/do. Puts a bit of a sickner on me making the carrot cake tomorrowboohoo just bought the carrots for it, might see if I can freeze them.
Oh the bonus 'MSE bit' of new cooker, 5% off code, 6% cashback via quidco and another £10 voucher off. Costing me £70ish less over allI love this site!!! (it was expensive but DP can't moan as he said 'ceramic might be more expensive but you should get one as it's easier to clean so you should get that', not that he'd know anything about cleaning ovens, he's never done it yet!!!!)
The 'That's the Flylady in me bit' I wish the darn thing broke before I spent over an hour cleaning it!!!!!!!!!! Damn thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DP said I probably cleaned all the muck off that was holding it together, for the first time you could really see through the door, little and often cleaning has brought it up lovely, now you don't need to as it's fell through! :rotfl:
One day I might be more organised...........

Hello! Anyone remember me?
Sorry I haven't posted for ages and ages but its been down to being mega busy, little man (10 months now) finding his feet and being off and me and having our house on the market. Anyway, things are much better now and as its summer hols playgroups/classes me and DS go to are on hold so getting a bit more time. Have been reading the threads though and keeping up with the posts so hugs and hellos to everyone.
Another reason I've not been around is had quite a few nasty PM's so decided to take a back seat round here but after Michelle PM'd to check I was okay thought I'd come back.
So, I need help! Have kept up with the flying daliy (just) but we are in the process of moving. Have part exchanged our house for a new one so its still on the market so I'm having to show people round and do all the mega cleaning and tidying and sort our junk and pack at the same time. Just had an hour in the spare room whislt DS is asleep and am feeling very overwhelmed. DH empited the loft last night, I've thrown/car booting most of it but now I can't see any of the room up there for stuff. For someone whos a bit OCD/Anthea Turner on these things I'm feeling rather panicky at the sight of it. Think I'll have another hour when DH gets in while he sorts DS out. Have got 3 weeks to pack and get ready to move but with having DS only get 2 hours a day max to get anything done - this means packing and keeping up with dallies, etc because as usual its all to down to me - men!!! Anyone with any pointers/help/ideas on how to pack it would be great!
Might not be able to fly properly everyday but would great to be able to chat again and get some motivation for getting everything done.
Right, DS is awake so will go and sort him xx
PS Bit random but to those with littlies ALL nappies are a third off at Tesco at the minute - not seen it advertised so just thought I'd stick it in (esp. to JillD for those newborn packs)Lightbulb moment 15th Feb 2007:doh: Now Debt Free and plan on it staying that way!
Baby on board!:D0 -
tracyg welcome back, flying properly is doing what works for you, so in that way, you'll be doing fine. Hats off to you moving with a little one, done that twice and it's a bit of a nightmare.
As far as packing goes, tips from my sister, don't pack what you'll need in the bottom of a box, she's an expert at moving, 9 times I think in as many years but only learned from this the last time. (I've only done it 9 in 12 years) Pack it so it's easier to move in, make sure boxes are in room order it makes unpacking so much easier. If you can get somewhere to store it rather than it being in the rooms (stuff you definately won't need before the sale/move) then it will of course look better. Give little one something to play with in the room you are in and keep talking to him as play as you pack, worked great for me, in the kitchen he was playing with the pans etc while I packed other stuff. Declutter as you go but sounds like this is already happening.
Good luck, I'm sure it'll be over in no time and you'll forget it all once you're settled in your new home.
Speaking of missing flyers, wonder where galantvr4 is & how she is, I haven't seen her post for ages, I've spotted catowen on other topics so know she is ok.One day I might be more organised...........
