Just heard that the Tories are planning to bring back RTB, even for housing assn properties. Have now come to the conclusion that they are all totally bonkers...

And in the Ashcroft poll today its still tied – with UKIP up 3 and the Tories down 3 since the last poll.

So either the Tories are shifting to UKIP or the Kippers are going back to the Tories – take your pick!

It's all within the margin of error.

How can they do that then?
Housing associations are private companies are they not?
They own the properties rented do they not?

If a government can force them to sell (at a ridiculously preferential rate or not) then surely they could force even you or I to sell our own homes?

No idea how they are going to do it... as I said, they are bonkers. My thoughts, which broadly went along the lines of !!!!!!, coincide with yours. Housing associations saying the idea is unworkable:

I never thought I'd see the day where the Tories become the main opposition in Scotland. Strange things are stirring in politicsland.

At the last General Election the Tories didn't get too many fewer votes than the SNP. 10,000s.

That's not going to happen though, take a look at the size of the Scottish sample, not a cat in hells chance the Tories will win 9 seats although Labour may only get very few if the current actual Scottish polls prove to be correct

Well they've announced their RTB scheme today anyway. Bonkers.

Although I realise all manifestos are electioneering in the highest sense of the word, this RTB scheme is the biggest election bribe seen so far.
I am seriously concerned we will end up yet again with a ConDem coalition where the tories more 'attractive promises' (which they know full well are unworkable) will win them power but then be shelved later.

Seemingly they haven't learnt from the last RTB aftermath -the funds from house sales being allowed to be spent without thought of replacing housing stock.
So -how attractive to me as a private builder/investor would the HA marketplace be after today? errrr..........

Interesting poll just published by Ashcroft of 10 marginals requiring a swing of 5% to turn them labour from tory. Labour is ahead in 3, 2 are tied, tories lead in 5 but by small margins in most of them. This is good news for Labour if it can break into tory seats with a 5% swing!
