I looked up my local candidates yesterday. Now I'm really depressed.

Me too. My area is crammed full of Tory voting boomers and the local MP is a total git looking at his record.

If Ruggedtoastland was a fiefdom run by him there would be no welfare at all, a nuclear missile planted on every corner. Single mothers would be clapped in irons and the only people allowed out would be silver haired Qashqai drivers.

Interesting piece on UK Polling Report, inspired by a report from ComRes.

In brief; polling companies that poll by telephone are producing better numbers for the Conservatives, than those that use online polling. Which might well explain some of the variability.

    Well that must be obvious.

Old people can't use computers........if you rang my Mum she'd tell you she was voting Conservative, if she did it online it would probably end up being the Socialist Workers Party

Have either the Tories or Labour 'pledged' to do anything to curb immigration, particularly from outside Europe? This is a major issue with voters and a huge worry to many people. Going to any of the major London hospitals, as I've had to do quite a lot recently, it is obvious what a huge proportion of 'patients' are recent arrivals from outside Europe (and not educated ones who could benefit this country).

As far as I can see, both major parties have just ignored the issue completely. It is very difficult to know who to vote for – it all just seems to be such a mess…

Immigration has been reduced from outside Europe. For instance, a person cannot now bring a spouse in unless he has an income of at least 18K.

The major problem is freedom of movement which allows all and sundry here from the EU, which is why we need a referendum. The only parties that can stop EU migration are the Tories and UKIP. A vote for a left-wing party means yet more unfettered immigration from the EU, and yet more debt from WTCs etc. :(

I don't believe that the SNP have any intention of entering a coalition with Labour.

I think they would do anything as a means to an end

On the whole, I am not impressed by the Milibean. However, I don't think even he is that stupid to concede independence to Scotland as the price of some 'deal'. What's more, he doesn't need to. The SNP have already made it clear that they will support him over Cameron whatever.

Maybe, but they will still make independence a price of any deal, and I believe Minibrand would do anything for power

Clearly you are not a Labour supporter.

No, I am not a Labour supporter. I am too sensible and I have a long memory.

I understand the Tories have changed strategy, and stopped negative campaigning and spreading anti-Miliband propaganda since they realise it's not working.

Lynton Crosby has advised the candidates to emphasise their own credentials not the parties. Obviously he believes the Tory brand is toxic. Theresa May knew that ages ago when she acknowledged they were known as the nasty party.

Their best hope is that the Kippers will return to the fold, and indeed the Tory poll rating is inversely correlated to UKIPs. In desperation one activist has even advised voters in Nick Clegg's constituency to vote Lib Dem rather than Tory. They will need the traitor if they are to form another government.

The Tories are beginning to panic

Osborne’s last-minute claim that he would provide £8bn a year to meet the NHS funding gap says it all. After years of sniping at Labour for even the slightest deviation from funded expenditure, he now suddenly offers, as the polls begin to slip away from the Tories, a colossal pile of unfunded NHS commitments worth £40bn over the next 5 years, on top of the £7.5bn tax cuts for the rich which he frittered away in his last budget. This is a staggering slippage from his hitherto relentless demand for fiscal prudence and consolidation, but it certainly reveals how desperate the Tories have now become as health services top electors’ concerns and Labour’s lead stretches on the NHS.

I'm sorry but an anti-tory quote from a labour party mouthpiece is not adding a lot to the debate. The bookies have realistically low odds of a tory majority govt...and even lower odds of a labour one.
    I think....
