Have either the Tories or Labour 'pledged' to do anything to curb immigration,<SNIP>

As far as I can see, both major parties have just ignored the issue completely. It is very difficult to know who to vote for – it all just seems to be such a mess…

I believe all other parties have policies regarding immigration although these are not as outwardly prominent as UKIPs (one & only) clear policy to be fair.

Whether this one area is hugely significant to UKs voters will tell at the ballot box.
i.e. will UKIP keep both of their seats or lose them?

Have either the Tories or Labour 'pledged' to do anything to curb immigration, particularly from outside Europe? This is a major issue with voters and a huge worry to many people. Going to any of the major London hospitals, as I've had to do quite a lot recently, it is obvious what a huge proportion of 'patients' are recent arrivals from outside Europe (and not educated ones who could benefit this country).

The tories pledge to restrict immigration from outside the eu which they can do. This was the worst thing in their manifesto imho. These are the immigrants we can pick and choose, students who bring in revenue and cross subsidise our own students and potentially doctors and nurses where we have shortages that other countries have paid to train unlike the umskilled eu migrants who can not be restricted who hold down the wages of the low paid to the benefit of the middle classes.
    I think....

Do you think they will? I thought that EU rules prevent them?

All I can say is if it is hung and Labour have the prospect of getting in with SNP they will go into coalition with them whatever they say because Minibrand wants to be PM. This means that SNP will get their way with independence and hopefully that means Labour will not get to govern this once proud country again.

Blair did all he could to destroy this wonderful country, and Minibrand would complete the job if he could, but he does not understand the British way of life and way of coming back after the worst has been thrown at us.

People seem to have very short memories when it comes to Labour, they think they are the party for the workers, but they are only after power for themselves. If Blair is back in the equasion they will just give everything back to Europe because Blair wants to be president.

In spite of all this we will be a proud land again, idiots will be defeated and sense will come back to the land.

I don't believe that the SNP have any intention of entering a coalition with Labour.

On the whole, I am not impressed by the Milibean. However, I don't think even he is that stupid to concede independence to Scotland as the price of some 'deal'. What's more, he doesn't need to. The SNP have already made it clear that they will support him over Cameron whatever.

Clearly you are not a Labour supporter.

I'm merely the messenger. Don't forget however that the gap between Lab and SNP at the last general election was less than the gap between yes and no in the referendum.

    Oh I don't know.:)

    2010 GE result for Scotland

    Labour 42%
    SNP 20%

    2014 referendum result for Scotland

    No 55%
    Yes 45%

    I think 22% is bigger than 10%.

I'm an idiot. I meant Tories and the SNP. Hence me saying 9 seats for the Tories isn't impossible.

See what you mean, SNP 20%, Tory 17%.

    Not impossible. Simply very unlikely.
  • I looked up my local candidates yesterday. Now I'm really depressed.
