Sympatea :hello:
Welcome to the thread
It is doable at home look at my signature that's from July last year. I am 1lb off my target I set myself.
I joined online for 12 weeks bought the syns book then after 2 weeks can say online didn't really help all I was really signing in for was putting my weight in.
This doodle diet book from the works helped a lot better.

Back again, dinner is cooking so it's too late to change my mind so I'm hoping what I'm cooking is free food!
Went to Tesco today to buy some of the barbecue pork but they didn't have any so we came away with some Gressingham duck legs in orange sauce which we're having with roasted vegetables - butternut squash, carrots, peppers and garlic, cooked in the actifry.
Please can someone tell me if the duck is free?
Also, can you tell me if birds eye fish chargrilled with tomato and herb (300g) is free please?
Thanks, LL
The fish is 0.5 syns Lois..
Can't find the duck.. Nearest thing on the app is Gressingham sticky duck at 7.5 syns for 250g but I can't imagine yours weighs that much!

Welcome sympatea
I can see a duck a l'orange which is 12 syns for the pack. That's in their Finest restaurant range.
Shame they didn't have the pork for you to try.
Symaptea, I agree that the best way to get started is to go to a group just the once to get the books and an introductory talk. Then you don't need to go back again. So that's £5 plus the cost of the magazine.
Failing that, go on the website and use the 7 day menu plan as a guide and meanwhile ask all the questions you want.
Just finished dinner and feeling absolutely stuffed. This often happens after my synful weekends but I really feel Easter weekend is catching up with a vengeance. I don't weigh at home but my jeans feel really tight and uncomfortable. Bad sign.:(0 -
Thanks for checking the syns for the duck, I've allowed 5 syns for it just in case, but also trimmed it of as much skin and fat as I could and didn't have much sauce. It wasn't worth any syns, it was a bit chewy, I won't bother again.
Do you need to attend a group to use the app?
When I did SW before I had a copy of the syns directory and I used to spend hours looking for low syn branded foods to try. I checked how much they are on eBay and the first to come up was £25! How much do they cost in class?

Think the syns directory may be a fiver Lois.

Thank you everyone for the lovely welcome!
meg72 Thank you for finding that, I have anxiety which is partly why the groups put me off but i'll try to grab a friend for the first session to pick up the books and get it explained
tweets that's such a great loss, makes me feel more optimistic about my goals! The doodle diet books looks pretty good, i'll have a nose and may get a copy
maman Shortly after posting I found the 7-day plan and the list of online recipes, some really great stuff. Made a meal plan for the week to give this a test drive. Fingers crossed!Started SW 16/04/15 - 4lb off so far!0 -

Welcome to the thread Sympatea - you will find a lot of support on here. Agree with Maman that it's worth going to group once just to get the current books and introductory talk. Someone mentioned that one of the magazines have a voucher in it so you don't need to pay the joining fee so save a fiver.
I noticed you've found the 7 day menu plan and will be giving that a go - it'll show you how much you can eat and still lose weight. The Speed food is the important part of the plan (Maman likes to remind everyone of this from time to time if it looks like you're not having enough, LOL!).
Good luck with it.
Another EE day today for me:
B -overnight oats with frozen mixed berries - not had this before so just hope I like it! Have to say it looks really thick and gloopy - have just added some more yoghurt so hoping it'll be OK.
L - Ham salad with FF vinegarette
D - LO lamb - not sure what I'll do with it yet but may make some BBQ sauce and have it with some SW chips. Had planned on making a curry with it but DH fancied it slow roasted yesterday so definitely too soft and possibly stringy for curry
HEA - milk in tea throughout the day
HEB - porridge
Syns - BBQ sauce 1; not sure what else but will make sure to have at least 5
Need to keep syns low from now til WI as went over at weekend, as usual!

Meh. This rot has to stop. My jeans a way to snug for my liking. The weekend was a complete of the plan washout. I don't know why I bother making plans
I'd set aside the day to batch cook spag bol/cottage pie, breakfast quiches etc. Hubby disappeared out, and I spent the afternoon locking stuff down in the garden because of the wind instead
Anyways...
Sympatea - welcome to the group.
Smedley, tweets - well done on the loss.
First official weigh in tonight. We'll see how well I managed without the group support. I'm gonna hit a group and get my free books:) That's the plan... or I might see if it's better registering online...:o after all this fab forum is as good as group. So long as I remember to keep coming back.
Is anyone else using a fit meter of some sort. I splashed out on the Wiifit U game that came with a meter too.0
