What do you do when you're not working for Asda meg?:rotfl:

    Yay!!!!:j

Yes, well done denise. Amazing what a bit of reining in can do.:) I didn't trust WI today, giving myself another week. I feel that I'm still in target, just want to give my body a few more days to get back to normal.

Decided on lentil & veg soup for lunch. Dinner plans are slightly tweaked to a cottage pie instead of mince and mash separately. I'll probably put a bit of grated cheese on top but count in HEA.

Saw in magazine says that there's a Total 0% Crème Fraiche at 0.5 syns per tablespoon. Then I looked at syns online and Asda ( ;)) GFY low fat is the same. That means I can make much lower syn dauphinoise potatoes especially if I count cheese as HEA.

:rotfl: Maman its my corner shop just 5mins wal k from me have to get a bus to go to any other apart from poundland or 99p store
so unless theres a real bargain somewhere I don't go often.

I want to find quite a mild stir fry 'sauce' recipe. bf is adamant the take away ones/chow mein can't have the usual suspects of ingredients in - garlic, ginger, soy etc... I wish he wasn't such a stubborn fool! hehe

Blue Dragon do a Sauce in non-oversized portion size, I have not tried it yet though

If you ever get the chance, make the Chicken Chow Mein from the SW A taste of Asia book and compare it yourself, it's yummy, having it again tonight :)

Not quite sure what you mean about the stir fry sauce. Does BF like or not like those ingredients? Or do you mean he eats them in take-aways but is in denial? You could just stir fry veg and put a shake of 5 spice and some soy on at last minute. I often use a bit of lazy garlic but perhaps garlic salt would be more 'invisible'.;)

bf says he doesn't like the ingredients individually - though he loves garlic bread.

I love the Blue dragon sauces but find they make a dish too 'saucey' for me. I like just a hint of it and then the flavour of the veg etc so I always end up making huge bucket loads and eating the dish for about a week! I don't have any of the SW recipe books unfortunately but I'm sure I'll find a recipe somewhere to try - even if it's just for me and wonder bairn!

maman I usually do one big shop shortly after pay day (all the boring bits/cupboard and freezer items plus the first lot of fresh stuff) sometimes its all in one shop other times I spread it around a bit. Depends on what offers I know are on where etc. Then get the other fresh bits as we go.
Our fridge is like magic and stuff stays fresh ages so sometimes I get away with buying less fresh fruit and veg but what I do buy lasting much longer.

I like potato wedges (and so did bf when I was on mat leave and could start cooking tea much earlier!) so I think I will buy some fry light then find Monday when bf is away and I will prep, par cook and freeze enough for a fair few meals (I'm thinking pay boiled, lightly sprayed with fry light and seasoned then baked for 30mins or so then cooled and frozen) so that the low syns option is there as I like wedges alongside BBQs etc rather than bread.

i wrote a nice post...and lost it. typical

The price of food/milk is frustrating me again. I know it shouldn't as its just a fact of like but...grrr. we never finish a full 4pint bottle of milk before it goes off and wonder bairn has blue top whilst we have green...2pints 89p...4pts £1 silly that there is such a small difference for a whole lt and I don't like paying the crazy prices the 'last longer' stuff can be round here. I've bought a 2pt of each this time and think I may keep these bottles then buy 4pts next time...decant 2 in to each of the small bottles then keep the rest in the fridge. hopefully less waste that way and the 2pt bottles shouldn't take up too much room in the freezer.

I'm trying to think of 'summer' meals for warmer days and struggling. we must usually live on salad when it's hot! Not ideal for wonder bairn though so I will make more effort this year to add in some variety...hopefully bf will eventually give in and start to try new things

Fill a 2 pint carton (not all the way to the top) and pop in freezer. It goes a funny colour when frozen but defrosts absolutely fine. I do it all the time.
I was thinking same about summer meals. I think once I get home I'll pop risotto on the menu (mushroom) and have it with watercress and maybe the jersey royals will be in shops soon and I love those with gammon.

Flying visit as packing to go on a works trip to Holland this weekend. Hours and hours of sitting in the car and trying to shop myself eating rubbish from service stations.

Star week this week so gain of half a pound. Setting myself a target of 1 and a half stone off by Glastonbury.
  • Evening all! Well done Candy & Denise!

I'm also reporting a 0.5lb loss for this week - slow but steady, am happy enough given my night out and morning after last weekend!

    Tomorrow's menu is:

    B: fruit, yoghurt & museli (B)
S: apple, nectarine, boots shapers spirals (3.5)
L: tomato mugshot, cucumber & tomato, yoghurt
    S: pear, banana
D: Tarka Dal with chickpea & chilli rice, kit kat (5)

Am sure will find a way of consuming the rest of the syns too.

We try to get most of our shopping at Lidl every week - our local store has only just reopened after being shut since just after Xmas so we can look forward to spending significantly less than we did at Tesco every week.

At least it's half a pound in the right direction sally.

Strangely enough the Lidl nearest to my DD was closed too BUT they also closed the next nearest at the same time. Crazy!

Sorry if I've said this before but your menu looks Green so you could have extra HEXs if you want. Cheese and crackers?:)

I nipped out for milk tonight as it was getting low becasue I hadn't done a shop. Local Co-op: 1 x 2 litres £1.45 or 2 x 2 litres £2. OK for me as I got 2 that'll see us through the week. Poor people just buying a few bits to see them through get charged 45p more. Hate to think how much money smaller cartons would rip them off.

I have never really been a sauce person either, I eat my Spaghetti Bolognaise (or any Pasta/Sauce dish) Italian style e.g. Not so much sauce.

I usually prepare everything from fresh since SW, but for times when I want to avoid the fuss, then the Blue Dragon sauces in the sachets (120g / serves 2 people) will give me the option to make a dish quickly, and without too much sauce. Note I am not talking about those 400-500g jars of sauce.

Most SW recipes are available Online at SW, even without a subscription.
Search Google for "Slimmingworld chicken chow mein" and you should find this page.
    http://www.slimmingworld.com/recipes/chinese-chicken-chowmein.aspx
You cannot search the site via SW, but you can do it through Google (Nice Tip).

I have no regrets in investing in the recipes books, some are more suitable for me than others.

I cannot wait to try the Blue Dragon Peking Lemon Stir Fry Sauce, I think I will be trying this in the next week, they do not seem expensive @65p either.

    @Everyone
I just noticed at MySupermarket.co.uk, if you click on a product, towards the bottom of the page you get a price history graph of that product, great for knowing what the recent lowest price was this year across the supermarkets.
    This will save me dosh!
