Thanks Shala so, do you think I should reduce my intake of breads etc

The diet is working for you as it is, if you want to cut bread/wheat out a little bit then by all means

If you are considering still eating bread, why not swap white bread for full grain bread or healthier types?
They may cost a little more, but they freeze well (little waste), and they will be better for your body.
Agree wheat can cause problems more than people think, advise research on this subject to see where you are on this.

Thanks Shala, I will bear it in mind. It was just belly fat I was thinking about someone told me the stomach would flatten more with less bread etc.
Although I do need some carbs being a diabetic. Thanks again.
I'd assumed you ate the carbs because of the diabetes wiz. Wheat products can cause bloating but if having toast is a treat for you then go for it. I don't think you eat too much. I think your meals tomorrow look quite small. I have really big meals but I prefer it that way as I don't have snacks and the only bread I eat is for my HEB but that's personal choice.
I was going to ask if I needed to buy new books... but if they've swapped all the super foods and such I guess I'll have to. ( Grapes and pineapples are a fave.) As there's a free membership in Bella this week, That might work out cheaper.

There aren't that many changes but the new books do explain SP. I think it'd be well worth a fiver and a magazine to get a new set.

Substituted mash for roast potatoes tonight. So I did the sausages, potatoes and onions in the oven and then cabbage and carrots on the hob. Much simpler and made a pleasant change from sausage and mash.

I discovered the old recipe books did not have the EE plan which I follow.
I also noticed that the new Optimizing book gives different info to the older book.
    Well worth getting up-to-date.

WI again this morning - seems to come round quicker and quicker each week (or maybe that's because time seems to go quicker as you get older, LOL!). Not really expecting a loss but I'm fine with that as even with a small gain I'll still be within target range.

    Back to EE today:

    B - strawberries - after WI
    L - mushroom omlette, salad
D - Crunchy Mexican Cod (from this month's magazine). Not sure what to have with it though, so need to think about that later.

    HEA - milk

Not sure about HEB yet but maybe some Ryvita this evening with butter (5 syns)

    Back later after WI.

  • Thanks Smedley, Maman :D
Will get the mag this week then and mosy in somewhere.

Yesterday went off menu but not plan, in the end what should have been chicken curry turned out to be BBQ in the garden.

I've switched from using the Mullers/Activa to using the Alpro yoghurts could someone please let me know the syn value of these?
    Thanks :D

I tried making the "Fragrant Vietnamese Chicken" from the SW Asia book. I served it with Boiled Rice, as the serving was a bit mean!

I was quite surprised that the flavours from Star Anise, Cinnamon & Lemon Grass came through.
I wish I had known that the Star Anise and Cinnamon were not edible
I think I will try it again with Mangetout instead of beans, next time.

Has anyone else made this dish, any tips?

The 125g pots of Alpro Soya Yoghurt's which come in a 4 pack are all 2 Syn except the Blackberry 1.5 syn
I hope these are the ones you mean, I quite prefer these over normal Yoghurt.

I do have wholemeal bread and sometimes the Kingsmill gt white I use these for my hex B.
I have ryvita dark rye for snacks or morning coffee, walkers baked or light crisps 5 Syns, now and then a choc digestive or a kit Kat 2 finger 106 cals at 5 Syns. 1 Alpen light as a snack 3 Syns or 2 for Hex B. If you all think that's ok I will carry on like I am. If not I will cut some out. Thanks again.:)

Just count your Syn values accurately, eat HE A+B's, and adhere to portion control.

Once you get your head around the eating regime, it will become child's play.

I struggle to get my daily Syn values up to 15, but because I have my HEx's, I feel fine. I guess the advantage for me, is that I can eat naughty foods if I so choose :)

You will find what best suits you, you will look back in a month, and wonder at what you have achieved!

Thanks maman, looks like all mine are the older packets (no yellow corner on the front top right and all supposed to take 15mins to cook).

Weighed myself this morning and I'm +2lbs for the chart please shala. As I'd mentioned I was expecting it though, in fact I was expecting a larger gain than that, so it's not a total disaster.

    Today:
Breakfast: 35g shreddies (HeB) with 125ml ss milk (half HeA)
I have fruit to snack on throughout the morning (sweet clem, pineapple fingers, green grapes)
Lunch: wholewheat pasta with some tuna and some salad. May add 1tbsp of light salad cream (2syns). will see how I feel later
Tea: ASDA battered cod portion (8/9syn), microwave jacket potato, mushy peas, garden peas and sweetcorn. Will also have a salad bowl on the table in case I fancy more salad!

Bf got a box of Makro's own brand copy of angel delight and I've said I will make him some tonight. Not usually my kind of thing but I may try a little with a banana . Not sure on syns though so it would literally be just a couple of tablespoons!

I need to nip to a supermarket later for fresh milk and bread. I may to go to Sainsburys for a change (walking distance but a little more pricey). We have a musclefoods order coming on Monday so I don't want to be enticed by too many things!
