Maman - meant to say sorry the pulled pork didn't work out :( i do mine in the slow cooker so that might be why it pulls a lot easier. Did you at least like the taste?

Thanks. Yes the taste was fine but ended up more with slices of pork with sauce over rather than shredded.

Is this the recipe you use?

The one I had came from one of those little books given with SW magazine and sauce was separate from the roast pork. This one looks so much easier and I can see that if the pork cooks in the sauce it would be much softer. And using the SC would have been so much simpler as I was out for a big chunk of the day.

I'll try again but with a different recipe next time.

Maman - that's the pulled pork recipe I use. I can't see it working too well when the meat and sauce are separate. I also do it in the slow cooker (and I don't remove all the fat just most of it as I think a little fat helps - the joys of being a target member to be able to be a bit lax, I think).

Have had my lunch but saw there were a couple of stuffed vine leaves in the fridge which needed to be eaten so had those rather than opening a new pack of ham.

Off to prep the potatoes for tonight's chips. I like to get them par boiled and cooled down before cooking them later.

    Good Afternoon :)

    JoJoB :hello:

    Welcome to the thread :)
  • Hi, I'm new. Have tried SW a few times, first time I left because we moved house and I thought I could find one closer and turns out the ones closer I didn't find as good as the first group. So hubby and I are both going to the original SW group tonight and I'm really looking forward to getting back on it. Got my Tesco shop coming tomorrow to get me off to a good start :o)
I am keen to join your fb group as well if someone could add me please?
    Thanks
    Laura

Welcome laura and good luck for tonight. I don't do fb but I'm sure someone who does will help.

Thanks for the tip denise. I'll give it another try in a week or two and great not to take off all the fat as it was a bit of a faff. Are the quantities crucial? I was wondering why they say 400g of passata when it comes in 500g packs?

I'm the same. SW chips definitely work better when dried and cooled first.

    Hi all

Well not a good weekend at all for me. Think I was stressing about going back to work today and was eating everything that I shouldn't have been. However been back in the zone today and I have stuck to plan. I will be weighing in tomorrow and I totally expect to put on.

    Today's menu was:

breakfast Toast (Heb) and jam (1 syn, DG coffee (2.5 syns)
Lunch: chicken, tomatoes and cucumber, nectarine and Alpen light (3 sys)
dinner: SW meatballs, sw chips, peas and carrots
    supper: mini babybel (HeA), apricots

Will menu plan for the rest of the week now.

I put in the full 500g pack when I did it, was glad I did as I don't think there would have been enough sauce otherwise - unusual for SW recipes!

  • Welcome JoJoB and laura :hello:

Not looking forward too much to wi tonight and totally expect that number 12 to evade me this week.

For lunch today we had hm beefburgers with a cheese triangle in the middle in a wholemeal bun with lettuce, toms and gerkins, mushrooms and few baked beans and a few Sainsbobs BGTY chips (whoops forgot to checks syns but they cannot be that bad surely ;)). The others had Walls Cornetto Peanut Butter Cones and I had a nectarine (excuse me while I polish my halo :D).

LO pork stirfry when I get back in from SW and I think I might have to have a small amount of Carte Dor Praline ice cream.

Things upside down here atm as DS is leaving the nest (again) this week and we are helping him move out and we have started decorating. Got several of our own ready meals (Hairy Bikers Beef/Cola Chicken/Campfire Stew) so when we don't have time to prepare meals we will just have to pull some of these out of the freezer.

Got our taster night at class tonight - feel as though I have gone for a bit of a cop out and done the strawberries with balsamic vinegar and black pepper. Now stop pulling faces you lot - I can see you - I have tried these and they are quite pleasant (honest) :rotfl:

Will try to pop back in later with result. Good luck to all my fellow Monday night weighers :D

Gained 3.5 this week! Not too worried, as I ate a lot today and usually don't on a weigh in day. Also had a couple of very syn-heavy days and although I've done a lot of walking, I probably just didn't get the balance right. I'm still very happy with an overall loss for the summer so far.
