Thanks saver upper for your encouragement. I do struggle a little with speed foods as I don't eat veg, but I eat lots of strawbs, nectarines, plums etc. I have counted everything that I have eaten honestly. I think/hope its just down to the fact that I am eating things like pasta/potatoes more freely now and maybe this is just taking some getting used to. I'm waiting for my leader to get back to me with her thoughts on my diary. Just had fabulous dinner, jkt spud, salad and spiced up chicken breast. Allowed 5 syns for light salad cream and a tbs of coleslaw? hope everyone has had a good day.x

Don't you like ANY vegetables? And is it just cooked veg, as you obviously like salad and coleslaw? There are very few vegetables I don't like, but I can't bear some of them if they've been overcooked, particularly cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli and I actually really like them raw, I often have a nibble when I'm preparing a meal.

One thing I would say is to bear in mind that when you're doing EE, 1/3rd of your food needs to be speed food so you'll need to adjust your portion size of other food to allow for that.

Do you add caraway seeds? It looks really tasty and a good syn free alternative to corned beef hash and you can pick up those tins of ham and tinned potatoes quite cheaply. So very mse.

Good idea to give the M&Ms a miss:T.

Yes it is this one however we don't put celery in as we both hate it and peas instead. We do put caraway seeds it does seem to taste better did it once and forgot and could tell it wasn't as good. We do like it as it cheap as well and all the main ingredients are from the cupboard so can always have it in and it doesn't break the bank

Oh I agree with you there LL. I hate veg too I can eat peas carrots corn, mushrooms they are the only cooked veg then I like lettuce toms.beetroot and pickled cauliflower. I envy people who can eat any veg. I do try, and at the moment I am having a couple of sprigs of cauli and sometimes a few green beans. I can't increase the amount yet ugh ! I do eat a lot of fruit though, but I don't think fruit gets it off as good as veg. I know I would give up and be sick if I had to eat all veg. I will keep trying !!:):)
  • Hi everyone sorry I haven't been around much this week but things have been quite manic here  Have read through all the posts tonight - well done to all the amazing losers :T, hugs to strugglers :grouphug:and a :hello: to our newbies.

Have stuck to plan rigidly since Monday wi and had a sneaky wi and the numbers are going up instead of down so what is happening there I am not too sure.

DS is bringing his gf's son to meet us on Monday lunch and he has asked if we can rustle something tasty up for them. So trying to keep SW friendly and him being a teenager I think we are going to make some beef burgers with the lf mince and maybe stick a lf cheese triangle in the middle and do some frozen oven chips and beans. Ok maman - I will have salad instead of the beans ;).

Have a good weekend everyone and hope you manage to stay dry. Looks as though the weather is drying up very slightly here now. It has been absolutely pouring down all day.

Thanks to everyome who is trying to steer me down veg alley, but in all honesty after nearly 51 yrs I don't think its going to happen. I will tolerate carrots covered in gravy and mint sauce and occasionally mushy peas with battered cod but that's it. Fruit, well just about my fav thing to eat, apart from melon. My leader did get back to me today and says my diary was fine I just have to stick with it, which I am doing. I will get there, I know it! Thanks everyone once again. So much support here.

Another newbie to the thread signing in. I joined slimming world online 3 weeks ago, lost 1.5 lb in weeks 1 & 2, and 1lb this week. So 4lb in total. I must admit I was hoping for more, but I am trying to see the positive side. I am lighter than I was 3 weeks ago. Hubbie has lost 9lb in the same time, typical man! I do eat plenty of melon and strawberries, but I think I will work on having more speed foods. I will make up a soup at the weekend for easy work lunches. There are some recipes on the SW website, so I will have a go at one of them. I am looking forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome suewre. Agree it's infuriating when men lose more quickly. Seems to be a fact of life. Glad you found us and do post regularly if you can. You'll get really quick feedback on here if you want it.

Shame you haven't got those Sainsbury's one syn burgers in your local store, that would save a lot of work. I had them tonight and they're yummy! Salad is a good side with burgers (I suppose others could have a bun?) but we generally have mushrooms, fried onions and tomatoes. Hope the meet up goes well with the lad.:)

Glad your consultant got back to you. I take back all I said about those who take at least a week.:o

If you can cope with carrots smothered in gravy than do try the Hairy Bikers braised steak recipe.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/braised_steak_with_gravy_24508

Everyone I know who's tried it thinks it's yummy. All you need to do is substitute Frylight for the oil. What's amazing is that you get 500ml of delicious gravy for just half a syn.
