Hi, sorry I wasn't on yesterday with my menu plan. I was in hospital with chest pains fortunately it wasn't a heart attack just muscle spasm, it was a bit scary at the time.
I had nothing to eat from breakfast, and believe me I was starving. I was supposed to be in for a couple of days for tests, but with three doctors on the go they did them all in one day. What a brilliant NHS and if I had lived abroad, in America or such like, how much would it have cost me. In 2008 I had a big operation for the Big C. Followed by Radiotherapy. How much would that have cost. Well I would be dead as I couldn't afford to pay.
We have a wonderful Health service etc lets keep it that way and hope They don't chip away at it until we have it no more. I for one am thankful for our NHS. Free free free all the way From the cradle to the grave.
Sorry for being rather morbid but I feel so strongly about it. I hope you all do to.:)
So, this is my Wednesday menu plan.yesterdays went for a Burton.
Breakfast. Egg, Kingsmill wholemeal thin B & 2 fruits.
Lunch. bacon B beans and s/w chips fruit
Dinner.jacket pot, cheese A.n' beans strawberries blueberries Elmlea cream 2 syns
Supper & Snacks 2 ryvita 3 syns. Kit Kat 5 syns. Pkt crisps 5 syns.
A milk A cheese B Thin B bacon
15 syns
Water, NAS Vimto, hot lemon water.:T0 -
Congratulations joee on SOTW.
So glad you're OK wiz. Absolutely agree with you about the NHS, except something needs to be done about foreign people who aren't entitled to free treatment getting it free. Unfortunately it seems all too easy for some to abuse the system.
Having an EE day today:
B - bacon & mushroom sandwich (HEB + 3 for butter & brown sauce)
L - egg, chips & baked beans
D - aromatic crispy duck or shredded roasted chicken, shredded lettuce, cucumber, spring onions (13 syns)
Grapes & strawberries to snack on during the day.
I've taken the syns for the crispy duck from the website as if I'd bought it from the Co-0p which is for 10 pancakes but I doubt I'll have that many! I actually bought from a Chinese supermarket. I'm doing a couple of chicken breasts as well as don't think 1/2 a duck will be enough for 4 of us. My pancakes will be mainly salad stuff anyway as not much Speed foods throughout the day.
Also planning on making a syn free roulade later with blackberries, grapes & strawberries which we'll have for pudding.
Will also be making some SW chocolate brownies for tomorrow morning's taster.

Delighted you got treated so well Wizkid, unfortunately whilst I am all for the NHS I am not happy about the waiting times and level of treatment or care I have experienced.
I was waiting from February to have my Gallbladder removed. Finally done in June only due to me ringing and ringing pestering the life out of them and getting a cancellation, had to go to A & E several times, waiting times beteen 2 & 5 hours! was treated like rubbish by several medical staff. Phobbed off with painkillers to live on for months on end suffering from severe pains day in daily living a very poor quality of life, struggling to function and hold down my job. I got very depressed and very down. No one cared. You on the Urgent List I was told. I was also told I was likely to have an Ovarian Cyst / Tumour at one stage and that that was the source of my problems not the gallbladder. Was referred for an "Urgent Scan" Urgent turned out to be 2 weeks later. I was terrified. Thankfully I did not and it was just the Gallbladder. But I was bandied about from pillar to post at no speed whilst all sorts of things were talked about as no one seemed to have a clue or care enough to sort it out.
I have a permanent scar on my face from where I passed out with the pain in April and had to have 5 stitches.
I know there are thousands like me too that's the sad thing, so whilst I am all for the NHS I have no faith in it.
Please don't take offence, a healthy discussion and just my view. I am glad you got sorted quickly .
Anyway back to the food :rotfl: Need more fluids and speed, haven't been as focused this week with my sister and the baby.0 -
Your meal this evening sounds lush denise. What time shall we call round?;)
And where is lush BTW:wave:Please don't take offence, a healthy discussion and just my view. I am glad you got sorted quickly .

Agree about healthy discussion. I've had both experiences from the NHS. Some great treatment and other when I've felt I was just a number but pleased your problem wasn't more serious wiz.:)
Not sure what exactly you meant about foreigners denise. If it's oligarchs and sheiks then you're absolutely right and EHIC is reciprocal. For the 'developing world' then I think we need to think why. IMO it's because we need to sort out more equality across the world just as we need to do with the haves and have nots in this country. It's no wonder with the communication networks that we have now that migrants see what we have and want a piece of it. Gordon Gekko's famous phrase 'Greed is Good' couldn't be more wrong and I'm not talking about the SW sort of greed that we generally discuss!;)
OK, off the soapbox:o and onto today's EE menu:
B: NAS Ribena, baked beans, HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks
L: LO chicken casserole minus chickenbaked haddock, tomatoes, mushrooms, runner beans and whatever you call cubed roast potatoes as don't fancy chips.
Syns: scrape of spread
DH has now remembered it's our wedding anniversary tomorrow so we're going to London for the day. I've yet to plan what we'll do but food and drink will definitely be involved so a SW breakfast and then off plan.0 -
Looks like he remembered in the nick of time Maman! :rotfl:
Hope you have a lovely day out in London with yummy food!
Has the holiday food blues left you now?
I am going on Saturday for a meal and am planning on a steak dinner with pepper sauce and chips. I will content myself with my speed foods for the rest of the week knowing this now!0 -
I had to google Oligarch! Never heard that word before, I've learnt something new today!

There's a lot of them about: Roman Abramovich is one that springs to mind. I'm sure you've heard of him?;)
Not quite over holiday blues yet but more philosophical about the gain. All I intend to do is stay on plan when possible but not deprive myself of days/meals out. Oh and keep wearing my M&S jeans because they're not so tight!!:D
Hoping to book a week somewhere for September. That's the best way of getting over holiday blues, book another!:rotfl:0 -
*sneaks back in*
Well hello again all. Long time no speak. I can't remember what I said last time but I've been off plan for a long time. I had surgery to remove my gallbladder four weeks ago and since then I've gained so much weight, I'm utterly disgusted with myself. I'm now back in a size 20I found a pair of my size 16 skinny jeans when I went to mum's last week and looked longingly at them. So tonight I'm biting the bullet and going back to group. I stopped going as I slipped out of target range and couldn't pay but I got a PIP back payment so I'm buying a 12 week countdown tonight. I need to lose 1.5 stone to get back to my lowest and I'm determined to!!!
Had a really tough time. 6 weeks ago I got rushed into hospital with a sky high temp and tummy pains after my doctor told me I had trapped wind  was kept in two nights on IV antibiotics and had scans etc- discovered gallstones and had my gallbladder out two weeks later.
I want my lovely clothes back- I burst into tears in Hollister last week as nothing fitted but I'm determined to get back into it!!!
