Ok, I'm trying to work out the food diary:-

    Today I've had the following:-

Breakfast:- Oatso Simple porridge (sachet) heaps of fruit with semi skimmed milk

Lunch:- Heinz carrot & coriander soup

    Snacks:- Apple, Banana

Tea:- Jacket potato with flora light & Princes Tuna filler (with mustard mayo, sweetcorn & gherkins). Don't know if this is any good for me, but it was delish! Lettuce, cherry tomatoes & cucumber with a smidge of salad cream (not light, but the normal one). Fat free cottage cheese with pineapple (yum). Activia Yoghurt.

Have switched to sweeteners for tea rather than sugar, and have brought granulated sweetener for cereal etc.

    Switching to wholemeal bread.

I need some ideas for lunches for work. We have a microwave at work, but I need to take something ready to eat with me, as we only get half an hour break, so I want to just sit down and eat it. Have bought some wholemeal thins instead of having white bread for my sandwiches (I normally have 3 sandwiches for lunch).

Any input would be appreciated, thanks in advance. :)

Glad you're getting lots of support abbafan, this is a great thread for that.

Three varieties (Multigrain Original, muesli and honey) are HEBs so you can have one those without synning them. Fruit is free of syns but do try to have Speed fruit rather than just free as this will boost your weightloss. Look in your book at the fruit list and stick to the Speed ones.

If you're going to have sandwiches for lunch you can have just one Kingsmill wholemeal thin and that will be your HEB for the day. Any other cereal of bread would have to be synned on Extra Easy. So probably easier to have something else for lunch. While your tinned soup today has syns, home made soup can be free. Or you could have a pasta salad or frittata or if you want something easy try packs of Pasta n sauce (never eaten them myself).

It's difficult to recommend ideas without knowing how much time/effort you can put in to cooking and preparation.

You can have up to 15 syns a day but it's never enough:( You need to prioritise what you really find it hard to do without. Nothing's banned but, for example, if you wanted to continue with3 sandwiches at lunchtime you could have one as a HEB and the other two (using thins) would be 5.5 each without anything synful in the fillings.
HTH. You'll soon get your head around it all.:)

Plenty of Speed in yesterday's menu saverupper:T.
Thank you for keeping an eye on us,maman.I know you are not interested, but you would be a great consultant.
I knew what you meant about not necessarily needing to eat more, just more speed, but I do find when I eat alot of speed,it doesn't "proportionally" cut down my portion size of,say, the chicken/other free food on my plate, and of course the speed IS so filling-that is the idea,so meals keep me full for hours.Sometimes I eat fruit, not because i am hungry, but just to add to the speed count.I did that this afternoon.
    Today's menu:
For breakfast we had a belated birthday breakfast for OH.Fortunately the Beefeater we were going to go,which is all-you-can-eat,was going to be a 1hour wait for a table,so we found a local place that does cooked breakfast. One breakfast per person :D.

Breakfast: bacon with more fat on than I like(though I cut off what I could see),fried eggs, baked beans,1/2 slice white toast,no marg,2 hash browns ,1 sausage
    (today's syn allowance,and probably tomorrow's, right there,in that meal,I would say.)

    Lunch:cold sausage(2,5syns),cold pork,mini sweetcorn,beetroot,red pepper,carrot,some Batchelors rice (old version,so free),mange tout,cucumber

Snack: a peach and a mandarine

Tea: quiche with bacon and leek (remembered to take the crust off this time :j),SW potato chips, and, tried for the first time ,sweet potato chips-yummy!Also tinned corn. Approx 1.5 syns for my share of cheese on quiche.

Dessert: meringue(2.5syns) with greek yoghurt 0percent,strawberries

Haven't used all of milk allowance in cups of tea

    Morning troopers,

Welcome to the board Abbafan

Great loss Lantanna :T, and all you other losers and stsers :T

Mumoftwo when you put your thins/bakes in the toastie maker do you still egg wash them? I quite like the idea of a sweet one like apple or berries, with a bit of squirty cream... It would up the speed content for the day too, although I guess technically if you used cooked Apple you'd have to syn it.

It's been a busy few days so haven't had time to pop on, my gain :o was 4lbs on Thursday  honestly not as bad as it could have been! I think it was 1lb for every naughty meal I had..

Back on it from Friday though, had a few really good days so some of it has gone already (sneaky weigh in this morning :naughty:)

I keep reading that everyone's having the HB braising steak, so I've joined the band wagon and that's in the slow cooker for this evening  with carrots, broccoli and actifry baby new potatoes.

    Menu for today - EE
    B - Apple, yogurt, choc shot (0.5)
    L - chicken salad sandwich(heb), crisps (5) satsuma
T - HB braising steak, carrots, broccoli, potatoes,
S - milk in tea (hea) jelly pudding (1?)
    Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.

That's a kind comment, thank you. My DH would just call me bossy!:rotfl:

I just see eating non Speed fruit and veg as a wasted opportunity although I do make an exception for parsnips with a roast and occasional peas and beans (although they make me feel better being P food).

Was browsing the magazine earlier and I noticed they were calling a breakfast salad EESP but it had SW free sausages in it. I didn't think you could count free food as SP and surely sausages aren't P like lean meat. Confused now. Anyone know?

I've just put on a SC of savoury mince for tomorrow and portions for the freezer.

I do hope you enjoy the HB braised steak shala.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, baked beans, HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks
L: definitely strawberries and then maybe JP or perhaps just some ham and tomatoes
D: roast lamb, roast potatoes and parsnips, and choice from green beans, cauli, broccoli, cabbage
Syns: gravy, scrape of spread, weekend wine;)

I had planned Jamie Oliver pork today but got some YS lamb in Sainsbury's so changed the plan plus it means I won't be tempted by crackling. I might try cooking it over carrots, onions and celery any way as that's a great recipe.

    Hi all :)

Well I've just about recovered from yesterday! It was our busiest day so far this year, and I could have gone straight to bed when we finished at 8.30. Everything ached as I was hardly off my feet all day. Bit quieter this afternoon (thank goodness!) so I've been catching up a bit with the thread.

The following diagram, borrowed from the Not Nigella Facebook page is very useful in getting your head round incorporating speed food in a good way, rather than just for the sake of eating it.

    Speed%20food%20diagram.jpg

I really like Denise's idea of having a salad starter as you wouldn't want as much main course. I'm not a fan of hot food served with salad, so I wouldn't go for Bolognese and salad on the same plate as shown.

Thanks to the person who suggested taking carrot sticks for the danger time (sorry, I've forgotten who you were). I hate to admit it, but there are healthy and free things available that I could eat, but I just sabotage my good intentions by making the wrong choices. It's easier to pop a sweet in my mouth between customers than to munch on fruit or veg.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

    LL :)

    Thanks for all your advice.

What do you do about counting milk you have in tea (semi skimmed), as it's only a drop. Also do you have to count sweeteners (I have switched to one sweetener instead of a spoon of sugar).

    Thanks in advance.
