That’s another shop for me to investigate, maman. There isn’t a Farmfoods or Iceland in my nearest town – we have Lidl and a small Coop and Home Bargains. In next town there are 2 Tescos, Iceland and Asda; Im sure there’s a Farmfoods, so just need to find out where!

Denise, that’s a brilliant idea for cheese! I’ve a small freezer, usually quite full, but the little bags of cheese would squish into wee corners. It’d thaw (if need be) quickly too! I like the idea of the extra 10g too. OH says he doesn’t like the reduced fat stuff.

That’s two good tips in one morning = Result!

I couldn’t get the link to work either, meg.

    Well done, selement.

My plan for this week will be interesting and most likely not SW friendly. We’re off on our holibobs next Saturday and I want to buy as little as possible, e.g. milk for OH. I get a veg delivery on Friday, but DD will take that (I had hers when she was away).

    Sunday
Breakfast: French toast (hexb), berries, maple syrup (1 syn)
    Lunch: hm veg soup, fruit
Dinner: steak round (syns in pastry - I’ll try to have just a little - & gravy), new potatoes, broccoli, carrots, runner beans
Snacks: melon wrapped in ham, sugar snap peas with hexa onion & chive cottage cheese, WW bakewell slice (4 syns), Walkers French Fries (2½ syns)

May tomorrow bring sunshine and a good SW day for us all!

Ok, I'm trying to work out the food diary:-

    Today I've had the following:-

Breakfast:- Oatso Simple porridge (sachet) heaps of fruit with semi skimmed milk

Lunch:- Heinz carrot & coriander soup

    Snacks:- Apple, Banana

Tea:- Jacket potato with flora light & Princes Tuna filler (with mustard mayo, sweetcorn & gherkins). Don't know if this is any good for me, but it was delish! Lettuce, cherry tomatoes & cucumber with a smidge of salad cream (not light, but the normal one). Fat free cottage cheese with pineapple (yum). Activia Yoghurt.

Have switched to sweeteners for tea rather than sugar, and have brought granulated sweetener for cereal etc.

    Switching to wholemeal bread.

I need some ideas for lunches for work. We have a microwave at work, but I need to take something ready to eat with me, as we only get half an hour break, so I want to just sit down and eat it. Have bought some wholemeal thins instead of having white bread for my sandwiches (I normally have 3 sandwiches for lunch).

Any input would be appreciated, thanks in advance. :)

    Hi, me again.

I have just been looking at the food diary online and filling in my information for today.

Does anyone know how you work out a syn value for a food that's not listed in the database please. I can add my own items, but I have to fill in the syn value as well.

When you look at the calories on the packaging of something, which one do you go by, is it the energy kj or kcal?

  • Kcal Abbafan.
I believe if a food has no free food allowance you can use 20 kcal = 1 Syn.
What is it you are trying to work out? Someone may already know the Syn value.

Aww,really glad your first meeting went well,Abbafan, and it does take a while to get everything straight in your head,I know. You will get the hang of it.
I think if you are using the "Snackulator"on the website you can enter Kj or calories.
For food that has no free food allowance (mostly things like chocolate,cake,wine,biscuits-junk food, basically),you can use the 1 syn per 20cal rule.So if a package says each biscuit is 60 calories, that is 3 syns.
    Hope this helps.

Will just look up some syns for you.Just a sec........

    Thank you.

The product is Princes Tuna Fillers (new york deli). I used the syns calculator and got it to 6 syns.

Abbafan I keep updating my above post as I find new syn values for you.Don't know if you saw my note about the oats.Do check this.x
It looks like the tuna fillers,as you say,are new. They already have listed chicken fillers, and they are 6-7 syns,so tune will probably be the same.Always good to check.
There is also a very good site for looking up syns (but it is not as fun as this one,so don't go!!)But for looking up syns of about a squillion different foods on the markets, Syns Allowed,on Facebook, is brilliant. How the lady who runs it gets anything else done,I do not know, because she seems to spend all day looking up syns and compiling albums for future reference. But people are not as [STRIKE]nosey[/STRIKE] chatty as we are here :D.

Abbafan, found this. Not sure if it covers the one you use.None listed as HEB,but check:
