You'll have to remind me what i asked, or was this meant for someone else?

You asked for ideas for one pot cooking on a camp stove for the weekend!

I was going to suggest corned beef hash - the only fresh you need would be an onion or two and a couple of potatoes plus tin of beans and tin of corned beef. Of course you could make it using tinned potatoes chopped up and then you'd only need to fry off some chopped onions.

    Well done 1940's girl

Can anyone help? I'm goin away for the weekend to Carfest camping. I'm planning on porridge for breakfast, lunch we'll be having using the camp stove so needs to be a one pan tin of something ideally and dinner we will have from one of the food vans.

Any suggestions for best choices or options would be great. We won't have a fridge or any means of storing fresh food.

I sometimes have half a tin of baked beans with pork sausages for lunch works out at 4 syns.

Nope wasn't me I'm afraid! Don't think i've ever used a camp stove and no plans to in the near future, definitely a different poster :o

I hope that isn't a sign, I have a 2nd date on Saturday and he's surprising me as to where we're going for dinner. If it turns out to be in a woods with a stove the chances of a 2nd date will be quite slim! :rotfl:

A tip I was given many years ago is not to cut your lettuce but to tear it into pieces don't know why but it stops it going brown so quickly.

Ooohh,I remember hearing that years ago also (I have always torn my lettuce, you have just reminded me why!)
I was told it is because there is a slight reaction between a "something/chemical/structure" in the lettuce, and the metal of a knife, and this causes the chemical reaction that causes browning.

The confusion was on our part not yours!
