You should be OK with that meal saver-upper, good to do something a bit spontaneous. On another occasion though Harvester can be one of the best places for eating SW as they do plain chicken breasts as well as steaks, salad bar and I think jacket potatoes. Some of my SW group often choose it for eating out for that reason.0

Morning all
Well I stuck to the plan yesterday and felt very satisfied with myself at the end of the day - box ticked. The pulled pork was lovely, it just fell apart. The sauce was quite spicy although I only put 1/4 tsp of chilli powder in it, but we both really enjoyed it. Tea was cheese on toast (HEA and HEB) with the salad that was leftover from lunch and we had some wine syns.
Maman - yes, it was the SW recipe. I considered doing Shala's rub method, but I'm not sure my slow cooker would be ok without liquid in it. I haven't got a crockpot type, mine is the Tefal Rice Cooker and it starts off quite hot and switches off if the food isn't wet enough.
My Muscle Food delivery came on Friday so I now have a freezer full of meat. Tonight we're having the chicken sausages with mash, cauli, carrots and onion gravy. Lunch is to be decided but I'm thinking scrambled egg and tomatoes on toast.
Selement - well done for your award. Don't worry about the 'friends' lack of encouragement, some people are just too caught up with their own lives to take any notice of other people's.I read an instagram picture that said "if it's important to you then you'll find a way to do it and if not, then you'll find excuses" and it kind of stuck with me for a bit.
Thanks for sharing this Shala - it's an excellent mantra.
Have a good day everyone.

Well done on making it to the gym Shala - having the pool to yourself is my idea of heaven! Mine is so busy it's like a game of chicken trying to do lengths!
Selement - some people are just ignorant, or maybe they just didn't know what to say - either way, don't let it get to you. Lovely that your OH is so proud of you too (and rightly so!)
I mostly avoided the buffet last night but definitely had too much wineOff out to an anniversary party now, no idea what the food will be like so can't really plan today but will do what I can.

I need to think of different food options as I have fallen into a rut and am eating the same things all the time with the only variety being the fruit I choose. Over the next couple of days I am going to hunt out some new recipes and think of different options for breakfast and lunch.

This week I will lose!
That's the spirit!!:T
There are heaps of SW recipes on the site and on the net generally plus ones on this thread. It depends on your circumstances and facilities really, obviously easier if you're at home and have time for cooking from scratch. I've introduced some SW recipes but mainly eat what we've always eaten adapted to make SW friendly.
Thanks for the thumbs up on the pulled pork lois. Did you do a large joint for leftovers?
My EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, HEA milk for teas, scrambled eggs
L: corned beef (syns counted yesterday), fried potatoes and veg, picklesHB braised steak, roast potatoes & parsnips, cauli, broccoli, cabbage, carrots
Syns: ignoring shared tsp of cornflour in gravy so just wine syns.
HEB going begging, probably won't bother unless I fancy a snack. I'm going to add a piece of shin to the HB recipe and save it for my lunch in the week.0 -
hiya ,well I've managed 1lb under the circumstances
Can't do it large or in red SHALA sorry.0 -
Hi everyone
Not having a great deal of time to post just read a few of your posts now and again.
Well done to all the losers among us and hugs to those struggling and having a rough time of it all atm.
Cannot remember Lois whether I told you that we really enjoyed Man Up last week and had a fab day altogether.
On Thursday we went to a function where food was available and in all honesty I expected the usual things like sarnies, sausage rolls and quiche. Hubby went to get our food and I was just dreading him have to make choices but can you imagine my relief when I saw the plate with poached salmon, boiled ham, roast beef, prawns, rice salad (not dressing), tiny bit of coleslaw and a couple of new pots. Didn't he do wellThey also had the little bitesized cream cakes - I had one tiny little eclair. Iced fruit cake was also served - took my piece and wrapped it up then donated to my Mum to go with a cuppa the next day - just on polishing my halo :rotfl:
Just tried the new SW sausages from Iceland and all I will say about them is that we definitely won't be repeating the experience. The taste was slightly ok but the texture was just wrong. Seemed more like a hot dog with a tough plastic coating  Will definitely be moving back onto the LM Rosemary and Red Onion or Sainsbobs BGTY ones. Worringly we still have the burgers in the freezer to try yet - DS's review wasn't a positive one. Did try to look out for the Sainsbobs BGTY burgers maman on Friday but we couldn't find them - are they in the freezer?
Had a sneaky peep on the scales this morning and its not looking good for tomorrow night. Have honestly stuck to plan and been a lot more active too.
Well done on the gym stuff and swimming shala - 24 lengths in my book makes you a star :T
Got visitors from Australia from mid-week - fortunately they are not staying with us but we will be spending quite a bit of time with them and getting out and about so ......... watch this space
Trying to catch up with some housework today so that it will just need a quick freshen up later in the week.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

:T that's a great result wiz. Well Done!
The burgers are frozen b-e-g. I made the mistake of looking in chilled to start with too. I bought another pack this week as they were so easy to do when pushed for time. Thanks for trialling the SW stuff. Seems like their venture into ready meals isn't a huge success. I wonder how they'll judge it overall. I think our group on here are mostly able to cook from scratch. Perhaps they're selling well to people who haven't time to do HM food.
:Ton the buffet choices. Certainly a step up from sausage rolls!0 -
I've heard before that the SW sausages aren't that nice - were they the old ones BEG or the new chicken ones? I was looking forward to trying the burgers, hope they're ok
Thanks for all the gym encouragement, I haven't gone today, I'm a bit sore :rotfl: annoyingly OH has decided to go though, I considered joining him for a while but best not to push myself into an injury being a top athlete that I am now:rotfl::rotfl: might go tomorrow or Tuesday ...
Not sure whether it would help or not Rummer but I've just started looking at Bento boxes - a Japanese lunch box. I don't intend spending ages packing up nice looking lunches but some of the recipes/ideas seem nice. They tend to be carbs, protein and then veg/fruit so fit in with SW.
This is the thread i'm reading (I just like looking at the pictures though)http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10043413/using-bento-boxes-for-lunches/p11
They seem to a bit of batch cooking and then just pull bits out the freezer when they need it.
Meal plan for today (raging PMT so really craving the eating!!)
Brunch - 3 LM sausages, 1.5 thins (heb +2.5syns) onions, apple
Tea - burger, half a HM white roll (4) SW chips, salad, pickles, cheese (0.5hea) ketchup (1)
Snacks - minions crisps (2.5) alpen light (3)
Making some white bread rolls to go with tea  so I may not be able to only have a half one  need to dig out the willpower tonight!Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0
