Sorry but just catching up:
:T to all losers and apologies for not congratulating you all personally!
Your littlies certainly sound like 'discerning eaters' saverupper. You've had some good ideas for encouraging/disguising veg. I certainly came to veg by covering it in gravy and agree that many children do grow out of fussiness, but you don't have time to wait for that! I'm totally with Mildredd in that they are influenced by what others are eating. I'm a great believer in letting them serve themselves from dishes. DH used to hugely exaggerate how much he was enjoying his cabbage/parsnips etc. and watch LOs desperate to share them.
I think your best bet is to have at least some times each week where everyone sits down to the same basic meal. It should be easy with chicken and mash, for example, you just need to make sure you have Speed veg available as well as peas and sweetcorn. I wouldn't worry about the bits (i.e. speed) that don't get eaten as they'd make good lunches for you. Most of my lunches are made up of leftovers.
You seem to be doing well sticking to your plan this week greentiger. I'm sure you'll have a great time tomorrow and hope you get the result you want. Enjoy your day and then back to it on Sunday!!:D
I had an off plan lunch today with a friend. She'd done a lovely salad but although ostensibly healthy I know there was oil in the dressings and yummy avocado and the most gorgeous pumpkin seed bread on the side. Sorry to document bad things.:o Other than that I've had a good day. SW breakfast (HEX porage) and dinner (mince, tatties, Speed veg). Usual weekend wine:j but that's accounted for in the syn bank.
Question (and sorry if it's a stupid one): What is Thai fish sauce like? Does it actually taste of fish or does it mean it can be used with fish? I've noticed it in stir fry recipes. There's one in this month's mag in a chicken stir fry. Would it make it taste fishy? Help please.:)0 -

Yeah.We will see how discerning they are when,as adults, the only place they can go out to for a date is KFC or McDonalds :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76

No lunch, really, but did cooking with eldest daughter.Lovely time spent together, but she did make scones, which I chose the smallest one of,topped with a measured-out teaspoon of jam,and measured out teaspoon of cream.
While she was cooking those,I was experimenting with 1/2 syn chocolate brownies.Good grief!! I had heard that the recipe tastes too cocoa-y,and too artificial sweetener-y,so I decreased these slightly.13 yo and I tried them and thought "nahhhhh",6yo liked them.I tried another batch, using sugar instead of artificial sweetener (increases syn count to 1 per brownie),it was ok-a bit more cake-y,a chocolate fix,but not "the perfect chocolate fix".
Our group has a taster session on Monday.Over weekend I will try making jaffa cake cookies.
For tea I made Sw chicken korma, which was nice, but didn't taste anything like the korma from the take-away?I didn't have fresh ginger, and wasn't game to substitute with powdered.(korma less than 1 syn, rice syn-free).A couple of weeks ago I made chicken tikka masala, and it also was nice, but didn't taste anything like the take-away.Is it just me??
Tonight snacked on Alpen bars (HEB),and, wanting to cleanse the palate a bit, fresh strawberries.
Have had most, but not all of milk allowance
Off to calculate scones' syns............
I was the same about the chicken korma...it's too tomatoey compared to the real thing BUT, I don't know if you've tried the chicken curry? It's really nice and more like a korma, especially if you were to put fruit like banana (free) or raisins, etc(not free) I've not done this as my husband doesn't like fruit!0 -
B - HEA S Milk and HEB Bran flakes. Banana
Brunch (starting work again at 12:30) - turkey rashers, beans, scrambled eggs. Nectarine and apple
Work break - ML Toffee yoghurt, cherries, satsumas
Dinner - tinned sardines in tom sauce with couscous. More fruit.
Syns - So far, depending on my mood, which Ainsley Harriott couscous I use (1-2.5) or make my own (free). If make my own couscous, it will be a 2 finger Kit Kat or use a AH, a meringue nest. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Gutted had my first gain this week. 1.5lb on I was naughty so it isn't undeserved but I got away with this behaviour early on and I guess I can't anymore so that's a shame for me. Back to being good for the week ahead! I have some SW tikka marinading so I'm even going to be good weekend after weigh in for a change. I am going out for a meal Friday but hopefully I can offset the damage...Trying to lose weight (13.5lb to go)0

Sadly it does catch up eventually whether good or bad. If you have a really good week then it's unlikely a meal on Friday will catch up by Saturday WI, particularly if you save syns for it. Or you could (like I do sometimes) WI early so you know how you've done before the off plan meal.
My consultant was explaining again about flexi synning this week. I've never got my head around it especially as she always uses going to a wedding as an example. Apparently you're meant to set a number of syns (like 60) that you might want for the day and stop when you get to that total. I can't imagine anything more likely to spoil the day. I think it's based on exercising control and getting back to plan. Personally I'd like to have what I want, possibly with the odd wise choice in there (like slimline mixers;)) and then get back on it the next day. To me it's the getting back on it that counts.
We're having an off plan meal tonight. I've got some Sainsbury's curry and samosas in the freezer I want to use up and being at bottom of range seems like a good time to do it.
Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, 2 fried eggs, HEB toast
L: LO chicken casserole (minus chicken)chicken jalfrezi
Syns: numerous:o.0 -
Happy curry maman
Enjoy.

hello losers
Saver upper - I don't think any recipe ever tastes exactly like takeaway, they use a lot of fat and sugar I imaginemakes it taste nice
How do you manage to reply to so many posts? I find you are all so lovely leaving personal messages but I find there are so many posts it is difficult to know where to start. If anyone has a tip on how to do this, let me know. I can only see the post I'm writing and the one above on my computer.
Hostie, I tend to have two windows open, I read the thread on one and have a post open to add replies on, on the other. I find it helps me as I have to pick up everyone's losses too..Thanks Shala. I'd probably like to lose 7lb by the end of next month to keep me on track for holiday, so we'll go with that.
I'm having the SW tikka for dinner too with extra veg...here's hoping I like it!
Added you onwelcome to the challenge.
Hope you enjoyed the Tikka.. might try and make some myself from the recipe on the back.
Bad day again for me yesterday, OH came home drunk with chipshe didn't force me to eat them but I did anyway (and i'd already had my SW chicken tikka at 4pm) Forgive me, for I have Synned :rotfl:
EE today
B - slice of ham
L - egg sandwich (heb) mayo (1) crisps (4.5), 2 satsumas
T - chicken, jacket potato, cheese (hea) corn, salad
S - milk (2) apple, FF yogurt
I can't believe i'm about to say this but I think i'm bored of eating crisps  does anyone have anything else savoury, low syn, that they snack on that they could share? The only thing I can think of is nuts..Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -

shala - I sometimes make falafels. They keep quite a few days in a plastic box if you make a big batch. They might keep longer but they don't last any longer than that in my house! The good thing is that they are Free so you can snack on them to your heart's content.
