Hi everyone
Sorry I have been missing most of this week but things have been bloomin manic. Have read some posts but not had a chance to comment so ........ well done to the losers :T and commiserations to strugglers. Big fat hugs to the poorlies and anyone having a carp time.
Lantanna - hope your scan went well. Fingers crossed they will get you sorted soon.
Re the Aldi BBQ Beef - tried it and found it quite nice. Did it with a huge tray of roast veggies and roast potatoes. Needs to go in main oven. Well worth 2 syns for the box.
Will you be off to church this weekend meg?:rotfl::rotfl:
Had a JP for lunch filled with fishsticks/lf mayo/yog and tom paste and huge salad. Feel stuffed now. Planning on Aldi salmon fillet with ginger and chilli for dinner tonight with new pots and salad/veggies.
Back to the slog now - catch up with you all later hopefully

I think you are right about being scared of syns, I try to have only free foods during the day and then am scared that I will overdo the syns and not be able to stop. I see from some of your food diaries that you have some syns during main meals, have I read that right? If that is the case I have to rethink the way I am doing SW. xIllegitimi non carborundumQuot Libra, Quam Breve TempusSPC NUMBER 025

A good way to control your Syn intake, is to plan your meals and Hex's for the day/week in advance (I am sure you are doing this).
The advantage of this is that you know how many Syn's are calculated for the day, and if you need to eat something with a Syn value, you will know roughly what your reserve allocation is for the day.
Syn's should be nothing to be scared of, they just keep us on track, so we lose weight correctly.
I think I read your post about meal budgeting, excuse if you are not the post originator.
I have to budget wisely, and I don't live to live off Jackets and beansOnce you have got the oil and fat free basics, shopping should be easier and less costly.
The tips I can give are:- Freeze your meals (if possible), you won't have as much waste.
- Check out some of the frozen ingredients, they can work out cheaper.
- Check out your grocer/butcher for deals, I save a fortune this way over time (shop around if you can).
- Check out deals at mysupermarket website and try and get ahead of stock so you are not paying full wack.
- Make your own sauces, etc. don't buy jars of sauces.
- Find someone with some SW cook books, there are great value meals spilling out of them.
- Don't be afraid to experiment and adapt.
I buy meat protein like Quorn, Chicken, Pork, beef, sirloin steaks, Salmon, tinned fish. I make my meals in bulk and freeze them so nothing is wasted.
I find I use Vermicelli, egg noodles & pasta a lot.
I always have a third vegetables or more (extremely filling)
I then need less meats etc.
I am satisfied without the compromise, and my meals don't work out that expensive.
Hope this helpsSW loss= 15.5kg / 2st 6.2lb0 -
Brilliant ideas, thank you. I only write down what I have eaten during the day, and I've just thought doing it weekly will save me walking around with a notebook all day. I know everyone on here does this and that I should be doing it too so will start from Monday. Thanks for your patience. xIllegitimi non carborundumQuot Libra, Quam Breve TempusSPC NUMBER 025

Not everyone does a weekly syn bank. If you look at people's menus some have a big chunk of their 15 syns a day. Others might have had a heavy day with a meal out of something then go low syn for a few days to balance it off. It's entirely up to you whether you have your syns in meals or as treats or a bit of both. Someone at my group said she'd rather not have treats because she can't stop;) so she just makes large, yummy meals and uses the syns in those for sauces or mayo or cheese or whatever.
Personally I like to keep most of mine for treats but leave enough for things like gravy and sauces in some meals during the week. What matters hanert is that you find a menu that's sustainable long term for you.
Delighted to say that my team won today including the fastest hat trick in Premier League history!!:j
As it was a lunchtime kick off DH suggested going for a cup of tea afterwards while the traffic died down. Very disappointed in John Lewis. At 3.30 p.m. they served nothing but cakes and drinks even though they don't close until 8 p.m. I'd even have had a sandwich with syns if they had something savoury to offer but was hoping for a starter plate of smoked salmon or some salad. Zilch!! So I sat through DH eating a big slab of lemon drizzle and sipped my tea. So hungry I made a JP when I got home. It's really not easy to eat healthily when you're out.:mad:0 -

Is anyone else like me and think they can get away with having a few extra syns just after weighing in?
Well, yes.Isn't that why it's called the Twighlight Zone?

Actually,I havent done it for a long time, but when I first started SW,just over 4 years ago,my OH and I used to have a Tesco take-away curry for 2:korma and tikka, pilau rice, naan bread,an onion bhaji and samosa each.Tesco used to have sell a vegetable side-dish (don't know why they stopped selling it),we used to have this on the side.We used to have this every week after I had been to group.
Hopefully I will be making SW tikka for tea tonight.:T.I have found a few different SW recipes for this-which one does everyone use?SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76
