Can some kind patient person put me right on a few points please?
Can I carry over my syns to another day or even say that I am allowed 35 - 105 a week.
Is there a way to do this plan on a budget? I went shopping and spent 2 weeks food money on Tuesday, and while I managed to get most of what I needed I did spend tons on fresh fruit, so now I have only 2 bananas and 3 pears to last until next Tuesday.
I really want to stick to this, as going back to my old ways of eating only 3 bars of extra large chocolate and pints of sugary tea a day are not an option.Illegitimi non carborundumQuot Libra, Quam Breve TempusSPC NUMBER 025

Yes its ok to bank your syns Its not strictly what SW say but some of us have found it works quite well you still lose. I tend to save all mine for the weekend or a special meal out.
On a budget? absolutely possible. I think what happens initially is that its a bit overwhelming and you think you have to stock up on
everything in the book. overtime you realise you don't need all the expensive stuff and that most budget recipes can be adapted. What helped me a lot was just bearing in mind lowfat lowsugar got rid of the deepfat fryer and bought an airfryer only a few sprays of oil instead of the glugs I used to use. Initially I used frylight but now just put oil in a spray.
My favourite cheapest meal is synfree chips, free egg and beans, I am sure others will be happy to share their cheap receipes so gradually you will build up a plan. One thing I would say is that you don't need expensive fruit, lovely though it is, you don't need fresh, frozen works out cheaper. If you can get reduced you can freeze it yourself.Slimming World at target0 -

Regarding the syns, it isn't SW policy to 'bank' them but there's no reason not to - others on the thread do.
Doing SW on a budget is possible, but challenging. Fresh fruit and veg can be costly, but if you shop around it is possible to keep the costs down - look for marked down items, budget ranges and frozen foods. Your speed food doesn't necessarily need to be fresh, it could be pickles or canned vegetables and often the savers ranges are just as good as more expensive branded or own brand foods.
Cooking meals from scratch is cheaper than buying ready meals, and if you've got a freezer you can do larger amounts and freeze them into portions for another day.
Good luck,

Now that I ma back on track I am going to post my meals here again so that I keep focussed
Today I am planning:
B - strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, yoghurt and an alpen light
L - Wholemeal roll with bacon and salad followed by fruit
D - Chicken and veggie stirfry
Syns - Alpen light/Hi Fi bars
I have decided to have a week off from all my normal temptations such as cake and chocolate just to see if it helps. I am also planning loads and loads of speed foods :jTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Hiya everyone, glad to report I am at my 10 stone,. WelL it hovered just slightly over but I am ignoring it, and Shala , put me down for losing 1lb.
Now I am on the downward trail to nine stone.
I know it will be hard going but i'll do it in time. It may take another 2 and a half years but I will get there.
Hope everyone else has lost or have STS big hugs all round.0 -

That's excellent wiz. I'm sure it won't be 2.5 years for the next stone. You seem to have lost a pound regularly lately. Keep it up with cauliflower sprigs and you'll be there in no time!:D
lois, your BBQ beef s coming out at 2 syns for the whole pack. Let us know what it's like as might make a change from the Tesco pork.
You did really well at the buffet saverupper, and all in all not too bad a day considering you had syns to carry over.
hanert, I'm one of many that carries over syns. I've done it from day 1 and it certainly works for me. I think the reason it's not SW policy is because some people need a treat to look forward to every day while others (like me) manage a bit of delayed gratification and save up my syns for weekends.;)
I definitely don't spend a fortune on SW foods. Frylight is probably the only thing that's expensive for what it is and even that's been on offer lately so I stock up. Or you could do what meg suggested and use a spray bottle although that would mean a few syns. I shop mostly at Aldi with a few bits from other places that I know to be good value. I tend to get almost all my Speed food as vegetables rather than fruit. We do eat meat but not huge portions. I bulk the meals out with veg. It's all very mse :money:really as SW is best with cooking from scratch and batch cooking your own ready meals for busy times.
I'm a bit pushed for time now but I'll come back later and post a few meal ideas. Just a few questions: do you need a packed lunch? Do you have facilities at work to cook? Have you time to cook breakfast? Do you have a range of shops around you? It all makes a difference.0 -

hanert - as the other ladies have said it is possible to do SW on a budget, you may have to just be a bit more inventive.
We usually have a few bags of frozen veg in stock, these add speed food to your dinners very quickly and reasonably cheaply. My favourite is the stir fry veg, think it's between £0.89 and £1.50 a bag depending on where you buy from. But you can get peppers, carrots, green beans all about the same price...(Icelands pretty cheap)
Think about some veggie meals too, this could reduce costs or at least adding smaller portions of meat to the meal and upping the veg.
Sweet potato curry is quite nice and reasonably inexpensive depending on what veg you put in to bulk up.
Hope that helps..
I need to start having some more veggie meals each week I think, I just did the meal plan for next week and most of my ideas involve meat.. If any one has any ideas they'd like to pass on
Todays menu - EE
B - toast, marmalade (heb &2)
L - frittata thingie, with salad
T - kebabs, lettuce cups instead of wraps, onion salad, mint yogurt
S - crisps (3.5) milk in tea (hea)
Bought some timed potatoes the other day maman, as I saw you mentioning it, so i'm going to try them in a frittata this afternoon..Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Thanks for all your responses so far, I don't go out to work so packed lunch isn't needed, I have plenty of time to cook breakfast but cannot eat until about 10am as I'm not used to eating any earlier, not many shops and they are about half an hours walk away, but once a week I can get to 5 supermarkets - no markets anywhere near me I'm sorry to say. xIllegitimi non carborundumQuot Libra, Quam Breve TempusSPC NUMBER 025

I found when I tried more veggie meals it really didn't work for me, lol I am a commited carnivore, love my meat. What does work for me is just using a little bit for flavour, particularly a pack of cooking bacon. I can get 16 meals out of a pack costing under a pound.
Quiche
bacon, onion, potato bake.
Bacon Broccoli pasta
Bacon Omelette
Quiche
¼ pack bacon
1 onion,
Tin baked beans
2 eggs.
Bacon, onion and potato pie
¼ pack bacon
onion
2 large potatoes
splash of milk
Bacon broccoli and pasta bake
¼ pack of bacon
1 pack batchelors super pasta
half cup any pasta
1/2onion
few broccoli spears.
Omelette
Potatoes for chips
¼ pack bacon
8 egg.
These are the basic recipes but can be jazzed up with mushrooms or any other veg that's going really.
Pleased you are trying the tinned potatos, now they are really cheap under 20p most places. use these a lot, they make great wedges, potato salad, lol didn't make great mash though.Slimming World at target0
