    Aww,thank you,maman.

With regards to syns,I have been so full this week, not sure how I would have fit them in!There is also the concern that if I start,I may not be able to stop. But yes,I know I do need to get that balance right. We are going out tomorrow night (buffet),so while I am planning to be good (will probably eat well before going out),I guess this might allow me the option of using a few saved-up syns.

    Thank you again x

    Morning

Saver-upper - don't worry about eating all that melon, it's speed food, eat as much as you like! :D I love melon and could happily eat a whole one if it's ripe but I find it hard to buy them anywhere near ripe and they sit on the kitchen counter for ages. I had one that sat there for 3 weeks! I looked at the recipe you linked to, but as soon as I saw you had to skin the tomatoes I decided against it - I've never tried to, I just feel like it would be such a faff. I do something similar with canned chopped tomatoes and get good results without the faff. :)

Welcome back Lauri - you'll soon lose that holiday weight when you get back on plan. Where did you go, did you have a good time?

Had to laugh at people mixing up Crabapple and Candyapple, I must admit I've had moments of confusion with you two before I realise I've done that. Crabapple - I hope you're bitter by name and not by nature. :rotfl:

After a break of 2 weeks DH and I decided to use our syns for wine on election night and last night. DH had been determined to stop drinking for longer after his words with the nurse, but when he saw her again and said he hadn't had a drink since the last time, she just gave him a funny look and said "really?" as if she didn't believe him - she's obviously got him pegged as alcoholic now. He wasn't impressed.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

Thank you Lois Lane.I know what you mean about fruit.I have some of it sitting on the side for aaaages waiting for it to ripen. Then the next thing you know,it's gone off!
I should have said,I didn't really bother with peeling the tomatoes:initially I did sit them in boiled water, but maybe because they were salad tomatoes, the skin only fell off the smallest one.The rest I just roughly chopped up and used anyway-no problem. But I agree,I would probably just as easily use tinned, because I don't always have fresh tomatoes in.
I am not very good at "tinkering" with recipes, but I wonder what else that sauce could be added to/used for.One lady on that site mentioned using it as a relish,I guess you could add something like carrots,or mushrooms yuk.gif.Maybe the basis for a bolognaise-would that work?
Does anyone have a recipe for a veg-packed/speed-veg packed bolognaise sauce?I have never home-made a bol sauce 018.gif

This is the Bolognese recipe off the SW site:
    http://group.slimmingworld.com/recipes/best-ever-bolognese.aspx

That makes a good basis for a sauce. To that I'd add sliced mushrooms, diced peppers and courgettes depending on what I have in. If it's not tomatoey enough for your taste then just add a few squirts of puree.

Don't worry about a salad on the side. The recipe itself has enough Speed food as there's nothing else in there but the meat.

Personally, I like to cook my Bolognese in the slow cooker (so I don't need to watch it) but it works just as well on the hob. Also, I never eat it the same day as I cook it because I think the taste improves with marinating overnight or even longer when it's frozen.

I'd agree about using tinned tomatoes, they'd give a better flavour than fresh. The sauce I like is one with paprika for patatas bravas. It's really hot and spicy. There are various online recipes. I'll post mine if you're interested.

Have a good time at the buffet. Good idea to eat first but buffets seem to make me eat because I can, not because I'm hungry. Hopefully there'll be plenty of chicken and veg sticks.:)

lois, I know what you mean about being looked on as an alcoholic. We had a woman in my group this week who said she was afraid to use any syns. Consultant asked me if I used mine just as an example of how they don't stop you losing. I said 'Of course I use all 105 every week'. And then the woman asked what I use them for.:o Then we were told to be sure to count syns exactly this week as too much guessing going on. I said no problem counting syns in multiples of 24 for Sauvignon Blanc!!:rotfl:

    EE plan for today:
B: NAS Ribena, 2 fried eggs, HEB toast
L: probably JP with cottage cheese and beetroot
D: Szechuan Beef (peppers, mushrooms, beansprouts), noodles and spring rools
Syns: squirt of HP, noodles (2 for ready to wok), spring rolls (probably massive but we love them for a treat), wine syns;)

I grate carrot into mine as well - by the time I've finished adding all the extra veg it makes loads so there's always enough for another meal.

Does anyone know the syn value for slow cooked BBQ beef from Aldi? I bought it the other day and can't find it in the directory.

Been a bit AWOL this week so sorry I haven't caught up with the thread (very unusual for me :o). Very well done to losers, SOW and hugs for those in need :A.

WI for Shala - gained .6lb :( not really surprised as been a very hectic week where I've craved carbs. Also very stressed as had class assembly where I'm in charge of the tech, cocked up a bit but no one noticed (so they said) I did though so more stress :o. Thursday was trip out with 29 4/5 year olds I was responsible for a SEN child who freaked at any flying insect (tricky as we were on a mini Beast hunt :rotfl:) so more stress then back to usual stress on a Friday! So today has brought usual dehydration aches and the usual tummy issues. Also seems like work life is only going to get more Stressful after half term too :(
Getting woke up every night as son comes home then sits up until the wee hours then wakes me again going to bed is so not helping. Feeling double my age at the moment :( I NEED SLEEP :p
Have a good weekend all, may it be better than mine :D
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

Oh poor you. Hope it dulls the appetite!;)

Can't find the BBQ Beef on line either lois. If you want to post pack size and cals/protein/fat/carbs for 100g then I'll put it through the syns calculator.

Sounds like you've had a week and a half tie, no wonder you're tired. Try and take it easy ;) today and tomorrow. Just had my DD1 round and she's worn out too and full of cold. All the aftermath of the Big O from last week. Roll on Half Term.:)

Bit grumpy about my recent SW failure that means I am further away from target, but I ate the snacks so all my own fault!

Today is not going quite so well, I want to hit the crisps, but am going to try and stave off the hunger with an apple instead (which will of course fill me better and longer than the crisps, just won't taste the same).
