Yes, b-e-g, the pork shanks are free. I'd like to hear what they/the sauce taste like as I could do with a few easy new ideas on the menu.

Can you tell me how you do your lentil and bacon soup? I tend to make mine when I cook a piece of gammon and I've run out of my stock in the freezer now the weather's turned colder.

I thought the pork shanks were very nice maman - lean, solid meat (ok not a huge amount but what there was was lovely). The sauce wasn't too hot which suited me as I can be a bit of a wimp where heat is concerned. There was enough sauce to go with all the veggies too. Will certainly look out for them again when they are on offer. They have a good date on so can remain in fridge and can be cooked in microwave or oven (must be defrosted if they have been frozen).

Thought I would send you some to try before you buy - enough of the speed stuff for you? :p :rotfl:

    Enjoy :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
The Lentil and Bacon Soup is basically this recipe but made SW friendly - use frylight, lean bacon and I used chicken stock cubes as we didn't have veg ones. I suppose the ham ones would be nice too or better still real stock ;)

Trying to have a look through recipes that we haven't used for ages as I think it is so easy to get stuck in a rut.

Well done Candyapple and tweets :T

Good luck with the holiday shopping maman. :D

Congratulations UKTigerlily on your 4st shiney - you must feel so proud of yourself :T:j:T:j

Had a bit of a wake up call today - looking through old photos - ones with me on are a bit scarce ;):D. We were at a wedding last Aug and I got a glimpse of myself on one  I had been doing SW for about 3-4 months then and had lost around 3st - boy did it bring home how far I have come so far. Ok, I know I am far from being a skinny minnie at 18-20 (that will never be the case) but I feel much more normal (whatever normal might be). We are going to another wedding this August - brother of last year's groom so perhaps this year I might not be avoiding the camera quite so much :rotfl:

Have been meaning to have magic pancakes all week but keep forgetting to soak the oats in yoghurt. DH likes just mixing the berries in yoghurt and stirring in oats without allowing them to stand so might give that a go tonight.

Got Mum's lawns cut this afternoon so a little bit of BM there. Intend getting our done over the weekend providing the weather stays fine.

    Take care everyone

University is behind me, new habits and the reinventing of old ones starts today. Latanna I do hope things get easier for you very soon. UKtigerlily. Flipping awesome feeling that isn't it :D I'm hunting pulled pork ideas seeing as how you've all been raving about it. Wish me luck!

I asked this when I was on the thread last year, but cannot find the posts. So,can somebody explain,v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y the difference between free,super-free speed and super-speed foods.I will not take offence.
Everything I read says super-free means a food is free on all plans.Since I don't know what is free on anything other than EE,this means nothing to me.Is there a list of super-speed foods.
As mentioned, yesterday I had bacon and lentil soup. The SW book says all varieties of lentils are speed.

    L - Banana
D - Spag bol (mushrooms, peas, sweetcorn),
Syns - garlic bread, cereal bar, options - 13

Of course we don't mind. I think logging your menus is a huge help. I still do it after four years.

I'd say two things: you don't seem to have had much food today, lunch in particular looks very sparse and low on Speed food. HTH.

I think there's some confusion because of changes in the terminology since the new books came out in January. The main problem is that what used to be Superfree is now called Speed. So when I said that you were short on Speed food it was the old Superfree (fruit and veg) that you were short on.

Things like lentils and peas are just classed as P for protein so healthy, free and a good meat substitute/addition but not Speed food (old Superfree). I don't think Superspeed exists any more.

SW has a new fast track plan (called EESP Extra Easy Speed Protein) for limited use where you just eat 50:50 Speed and Protein. It's meant as a kick start or for rapid loss for special occasions rather than a long term plan.

The Superfree list has been changed so that the new Speed list has lost quite a few fruits. From memory cherries, pineapples, kiwis, bananas, grapes and mangoes and some obscure things aren't Speed food but they are Free.

So, your Free foods are all the fruit and veg that aren't on the Speed list, pulses, pasta, potatoes, rice, lean meat, fish etc. To me the implication from the EESP is that the Protein free foods are a better/healthier option than those that are just carbs but that's a personal opinion.

That's probably enough to take in if you're just doing EE. It can vary a bit on Green and Red.

I can't be 100% sure because I don't know exactly what's in your soup or chilli but from what you've written you don't seem to be having enough Speed food.

When I make lentil soup it has leeks, onions and carrots along side the lentils so it fits with EESP (nothing but Protein and Speed). When I make chilli it has 5% mince (P), red beans (P), and then tomatoes, onions, diced carrot, peppers and mushrooms (all Speed). I do it this way (and freeze in portions) in case I want to use it for a EESP day/meal and it has loads of Speed food built in to make sure I get my third of Speed a day on EE.

Sorry this is a bit of an essay. The changes from January weren't massive it's just the words are confusing. Hope I haven't confused you even more. Do keep asking questions.:)

    Debt-free and Proud!
I've been trying to get extra fibre in my diet for some weeks now, just to keep the body plumbing working correctly.
I have tried all sorts: nuts, sweetcorn, oats, with little success, that is until recently.

I have been adding 6 - 8 prunes in my breakfast dish "overnight oats".
I have tried the ones in juice (in a tin), also I have a local health food store that sells unsweetened dried prunes, I can soak them in water and they are great. I am also going to try their unsweetened dried apricots too, I will be adding them to the oats too.

So far I haven't experienced any blocked plumbing :)

I hope this helps someone (sometimes grandma is correct with her book of tricks).
Just be careful with dried fruits, most of the ones are loaded with sugar, I was quite lucky to be able to find these unsweetened ones!

    P.S
I would like to welcome all the new faces on the forum
Also well done to all the weigh in losers.
