Morning all
Quiet on here, hope that means everyone is busy enjoying their weekend.
Well done Smedley. :T
Greentiger, do you need a kick up the bum? :rotfl:
That buffet sounded very nice Maman, it makes a change from everything being either pastry or bread based and high in syns. And raspberry tart...
I was looking through the syns directory again yesterday and something occurred to me - there's no reference to red or green anymore. SW obviously want to phase those plans out altogether.
And I was thinking about the maintenance issue because I am embarrassed to be one who has lost a significant amount and put it all back on again.
It took 12 years to regain all of it and there have been difficult times with family issues during that period that I can put part of the blame on, but I think the main reason is that old style SW, i.e red and green days, weren't that easy to continue with long term.
Eating at home was fine, DH and I frequently had non meat green days, substituting with Quorn in order to have traditional meals like chilli and rice and spag bol, and used HEBs for small amounts of carbs with meat and 2 veg type meals.
The difficulty came with trying to keep to plan when normal life got in the way. I had a job where I travelled a lot, and with all the will in the world there is only so much planning and preparing of food you can do. When you need to eat and you're on a motorway or in an airport, choices are restricted.
Where I'm leading with this is that I think SW's new format is probably easier to stick to and maintain. You can have spag bol as long as you make sure 1/3rd of your meal or day's intake is speed food.
Having said that, I'm thinking about my breakfast this morning - fruit and yogurt - sounds good until you analyse which fruits I had and realise NONE of them were speed food: banana, mango and kiwi. :rotfl: Some parts of SW's new format don't make quite as much sense as others.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Just a flying visit again today.
Staying with EE again as it's much easier now that DH is on board!
B - SW fry up
L - rice salad; ham, beetroot
D - roast pork; roast potatoes, roasted veg; green beans & brussels - DH will have gravy with his but I don't bother - I'll have some apple sauce - need to check syns.
HEA - milk in tea throughout the day
HEB - not sure but probably have some crispbreads & butter later

0.5lb loss for me this week, I had too many syns so I am pleased to lose at all. As per usual I had some very naughty food days, which in my head is ok if I'm extra good the other days to balance it out, but I didn't really do that I still pretty much used up my syns the other days.Trying to lose weight (13.5lb to go)0

Green tiger needs a poke with the naughty stick! Lol. Feeling a bit more positive today and overall much better. The wonders of a Dr who has actually done something, proper pain relief and a good nights sleep. Back with the gp first thing just gotta take each day as it comes . Going to go to the gym for a light walk on the treadmill, go to Asda and get some salmon and veg and will do at least half an hours housework before I sit down again for the rest of the day. Just gotta look after myself and be healthy as it will help overall.0

Looks like you have been doing your homework with the new books
When I first came onto the forum, my mum gave me some old books, things were confusing Red, Green, maybe even pink days.
I soon got the new books.
I agree, EE is easy, it has simplified what was to me unnecessary confusion, I just wanted to cook and eat, my meal planning has also got easier with EE.
Don't worry too much about gains, the reasons are now in the past, you are here making a difference getting back on the horse.
The proverb I remember that applies goes like this:
Fall down 6 times, get up seven times
Winners never quit! Have a nice day Lois.SW loss= 15.5kg / 2st 6.2lb0 -
Good morning everyone, well,I was right I haven't lost anything this week. But, like I said I know why. I am not as disappointed as I would have been had I stuck to the plan? So, it's STS this week Shala I will have a better week this coming week no probs, I am so certain. Well done to all losers this week and big hugs to STS and gainers the latter needs the extra hug and push; me included. X
At least it's not a gain wiz and :Tto selement and smedley on their 0.5 in the right direction. That buffet sounded very nice Maman, it makes a change from everything being either pastry or bread based and high in syns. And raspberry tart...

You're right about the buffet. It was one of those 'American Supper' things where everyone brings something. I'm sure there must have been other SW members present.;)
You're right about the Red and Green, it only features on the website since January. I don't have a problem with that as I almost completely do EE but it does seem a bit unfair on vegetarians who get a better deal on Green IMO.
Life does get in the way lois which is why the more varied the plan the easier it can be but eating out is always an issue. It's OK in places where you can eat steak/salad/JP and carveries are fine if you're disciplined to avoid massive Yorkshires and piles of roasties but so many places pile up the chips or have lashings of oil. That's not just cheap places, you only have to watch celebrity chefs!
On the fruit, I think there's a general awareness creeping in that too much sugar is bad whether it's 'natural' or added. There's talk of removing fruit juice from 5 a day and a concern that smoothies destroy the good fibre bit. I'm sure that's what's behind the revised Speed list.Just gotta look after myself and be healthy as it will help overall.
That's good advice to yourself:). Good to hear you sounding brighter. Hope you get positive news at the doctor's.
Back on plan today. I'm doing roast pork to a JO recipe.
http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/pork-recipes/6-hour-slow-roasted-pork-shoulder/#4dz6EvDI814oH62A.97
It's delicious but always a struggle ignoring the crackling. Mine's a boneless joint (YS in Sainsbury's and much smaller) so won't take as long.
EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB toast, baked beans, HEA milk
L: choice of JP or frittata/omeletteroast pork, roast potatoes and parsnips, carrots, cabbage, onions, celery
Syns: scrape of spread, gravy, wine syns:D0 -
Spare hard drive is being fitted into my laptop as we speak (yep DS returned home this morning). The old hd has gone kaput but fortunately he has a spare one (as you do) so is kindly sorting that out for me but said I really need to consider a tablet as I have had laptop for 3 years now
Well done to losers - don't worry how small loss is they are all heading in right direction
I can probably beat you on the regaining of huge losses Lois - this is third time (in around 30 yrs) that I have lost huge amounts only to regain plus some. I agree that current EE seems much more sustainable long term.
Thanks for wise words Smedley.
Have a good day lantanna xx
Difficult week ahead - relations visiting for a couple of days and friend has suggested a meal out and that's for starters.
Not thinking too much about getting next shiney - I will get it sometime. Been totally on plan since blow out last Tuesday.
Lunch is tinned pots fried off, beans, egg, mushrooms followed by strawberries and ff yoghurt. Tonight it is Hairy Bikers steak (in sc now) with lots and lots of speedy veggies.
Enjoy weekend everyone.

Tweets a fun size crunchie is 4 syns nd well worth it. What else can I do maman but try and get on as normal. Lying round moping won't help me just have to be thankful for what I've got and enjoy things when I can. Good work with the buffet I love a good buffet !0
