A funny old weekend which ties in with the emotional eating.
I went to visit a good friend in hosp Sat.
Went in to a clothes shop in hosp(!!) & they had a full length mirror, my legs in my leggings were not a pretty sight. So thought must get back on track blah blah.
Went to visit said friend & she had been told a very short & sad prognosis just minutes before I got there. Shellshocked not even close.
So I have veered since then between feeling sick, hardly eating & eating crap.
Though of course it is so NOT about ME.
    Ho hum.

(((Hugs))) But it is about YOU. It is your friend and it is painful, you are in shock. These things are much more important than worrying about food, weight etc. When something like this happens it really puts other things into perspective. Make the most of being with your friend, you can address your weight later.

Hugs love, be kind to yourself, not eating anything will make you feel worse so do try no matter if it is crap, if that's what you fancy go for it, if you do gain weight you know you can take it off again when you feel better.

Oh its not a kidney infection now - the sample didn't grow anything whatever that means. Nice of them to tell me I was taking those anti biotics for nothing. Only reason I find out is because I ring up because I'm still in pain.

Now they think its Endometriosis. I give up I actually do.

Sorry about your friend Beanie I really am, it just seems to be bad news all round at the minute. I know someone at 34 who has just brought his wedding forward as he found out he has lung cancer and things aren't very optimistic.

Life sucks at times it really does.

Just wondering if anyone had any tips on avoiding emotional eating?

Some great responses to this. It just shows how psychological weightloss/gain can be. Not something I'd really thought about before joining this thread but it's great that we have the time to discuss it. And it's not just the time but the supportive atmosphere too.:A I suppose my take is closest to mim's response. I just loathed being fat so much that there wasn't a day that went past that I didn't think about how miserable it made me feel. Being slim won't sort out all the problems in your life but it will make you feel better about yourself and so better able to cope with them. For me it's all about control. I can't control all the happenings in life but I can control my own behaviour. That doesn't mean I can do it 100% of the time (I'm not perfect:D) but it is my default position that I can keep returning to if I stray. As a target member, it is easier because if I do have a bit of a binge I'm not going to gain all the weight I've lost so I just jump back on the wagon and all will be well again. So, IMO it's worth persevering and getting to target, by however scenic a route, then it'll put the emotional blips into perspective.

Seems today is a day for essays! :rotfl:

Thanks for the pulled pork info. denise. A sauce that's too thick must be a first for SW!;) What's great is that pork shoulder is very economical (and even more so if you buy it YS).

lois, if you have the time probably the best way of having a HEX free lunch is a fry up with or without potatoes. Tinned potatoes slice and fry very well if you haven't any left overs. Otherwise make something like breakfast muffins/frittata in advance and have that with maybe a yogurt and fruit to follow.

Another messed up Monday, having my evening meal at lunchtime. I've got SW Bolognese from the freezer. It already has loads of veg in it but I've got plenty of peppers and mushrooms so I'll add more.

    EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB toast, baked beans
L: SW spaghetti Bolognese, HEA Parmesan and loads left for milk in teas
D: may just snack on cold meat and fruit if hungry
    Syns: scrape of spread

Thanks for the advice on emotional eating so far.. i try not to have things in the house like Lois, but i have found the sugar free sweets or hot chocolate helps if you have a sweet tooth...

Hugs Beanie - life is an *rse sometimes, be kind to yourself as well as your friend xx

Is that more tests for you then Lantanna :( lets hope they find the cause soon, its frustrating, not to mention painful, having to wait so long :(

Our pulled brisket was nice maman, i'd have preferred pork but OH likes beef :p the sauce was nice if you like a bit of a kick with the chilli/cayenne in it. I cooked it in the slow cooker with the rub on and did the sauce separately - i don't like seeing all the fat congealing in the sauce _pale_ so i prefer to do it separate.

I usually use a bit of brown sugar rather than sweetner, so a few syns, but it's about your preference really...

    Menu for today EE -
B - baked oats, banana (heb)
L - loaded jacket skins (bit of hea) salad
T - chicken, lots of stir fry veg, rice or noodles
S - strawberries, milk (bit of hea) crisps (4)

    xx
    Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.
