Mrs_Optimist wrote: »Thanks for the support - it means a lot. Still haven't heard from my consultant - and have had a weekend completely of the rails - guzzling wine by the bottle, stuffing my face with crisps, chocolate - you get the pictue.
I am on holiday from the weekend for a week so would like to get back on track before I go - but don't think I will be returning to that group - some of the people I will miss but I don't feel supported and IMAGE therapy is excruciating when you are naturally a private person. I know I am using the Consultant as an excuse not to do it - but I do want to lose weight.
I have a lot to lose (6 stone) so it should come off quite quickly if I am motivated enough.
Today I have had
2 weetabix (HEB) SS Milk (HEA)
Pear
I will also have an apple and a Satsuma.
Lunch is lettuce, potato, beetroot, and cold steak slices.
For dinner I will have a jacket potato with beans and probably some cold red cabbage.
Syns - mmm not so sure yet.
I love fruit & veg but I also love guzzling wine and could happily do it every day - although I don't.
I will swap the wine for vodka & diet coke methinks and buy some low fat crisps (savoury is more my thing than sweet).
Exercise, I dont do anything really - although I had a recently brief medical at the GP and he said my lung function, blood pressure was excellent so I don't appear to have suffered healthwise because of my weight - yet.
I am 41 years old and want to lose weight for health rather than being a catwalk model! I am currently a size 18/20 and do carry my extra stones well - I just look bulky rather than fat.
What exercise do you recommend - apart from gym or running as I don't think my knees could handle that!
That sounds good...but not the wine!! I'm only a newbie, but, yes, if you stick at it, it should fall off. Just walking is good exercise. What about a hoola hoop....that burns off calories, especially a weighted one, and you can do that at home. Keep going xx:T0 -
Morning all! Been away for 48 hours and there's been 10 pages to catch up on and a new thread to find! Quickly skimmed over, well done to all you losers
:hello: MrsOptimist I definitely think you should stick with the SW, it can be really disheartening when you're not seeing the results that you want but slow progress is better than no progress. This thread is great for support and advice, I find coming on here every day and posting what my meal plans are and speaking to other folk helps me enormously. Is there something coming up that you could maybe work towards? I've worked out that if I can lose 2lbs a week between now and my holiday I'll be very comfortably at target - seems a lot more manageable than I want to lose X stone!! I'm also thinking about trying EESP this week to see if that gives me a wee boost. Just spotted your post there - what about trying a fitness class like Zumba or something to get the "body magic" in? I def think it does speed up your weight loss.
Well another spectacular fall from the wagon for me this weekend - few drinks on friday night turned into hangover munchies all weekend! Right back on it today though/
b: fruit and yogurt
l: hm split pea soup and hexb bread
d: spanish omelette, halloumi kebabs (hexa) and rice & salad
snacks will be more fruit and yog, 3 litres nas diluting juice and green tea.
Have a great day everyone!!0 -
Eggs - If I ever work it out I'll let you know.
Mrs Optimist - I feel for you, SW is great when you're losing weight but when I have a blip I wonder what the point is. I'd definitely take the shared wisdom of this group over a text from a consultant.0 -
MrsO - you technically don't have to exercise to lose weight on SW, i think maman got to her target without exercising and i know the only exercise i did in my 20's when i first did SW was raising a glass of vodka to my mouth :rotfl: If you want to exercise though find something you enjoy, don't let it become a chore and then you completely fall off the wagon exercise and diet wise..
I've started to line dance recently - i only do an hour a week at the moment of exercise, although OH is trying to make me walk more. I've told him if we had our own swimming pool i'd exercise every day, it hasn't appeared yet though :rotfl:
I've found with eggs you have to use a non stick pan.. i only give mine a light spray of oil and it's fine.Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Silly Question Alert!
Best way to fry an egg using fry light spray? Massive fail this morning ended up sticking to the pan and burning. Not using enough sprays or too high heat?
Feeling stuffed. Can't remember the last time i actually ate breakfast!
It works!
If your egg is sticking, make sure:
1. you are not cooking on full heat, I cook on half heat which my frying pan likes.
2. You could try coconut spray oil, no syns from Tesco, sorry don't have the link at the mo, half heat only!
2. Make sure your pan has an anti stick coating which is working well. Try these if you are struggling: http://www.wilko.com/pots+pans/frying-pan-induction-base-20cm/invt/0352894

Weigh in for me tonight and scales yest showed I have lost exactly nothing so not really looking forward to it lol
Was dead on last week up until Friday really and then the weekend was just cram as much carbs into my gob as possible.
It was sw chips and pasta in the main but still I find it hard to lose weight when I am eating lots of them.
Will see what the scale of doom says later0 -
Hi MrsO - as a lurker, you've probably realised that quite a few of the regulars here don't go to group, including myself. SW does work and once you get your head round it, it will become easier.
You can ask us as many questions as you like, tell us what you're struggling with, there's always someone around who can help.
Don't give up.

Getting your head around the new eating habits, ingredients and low fat products is a must, once you have gotten this in your head and you stick to it, everything should work.
I don't go to the group, I didn't get on with the whole regime, I joined online instead to give me the best start.
This group has been a fantastic lifeline, they have corrected me on a few points, which I am grateful for.SW loss= 15.5kg / 2st 6.2lb0 -
Bexta - I have the same problem with eggs although mine seems to be hampered by the fact that my non-stick pans really don't like me frying quorn sausages in frylight - they leave the pan in a bad state and eggs tend to stick in the same patches. Thanks for all the helpful tips!
MrsOptimist - I agree with what others are saying and I really commend you for starting before your holiday. I know full well if it was me I'd be saying I'll start when I get back, so you've obviously got the right attitude to stick to it.
I struggle to fit in time for exercise too. I work in London 3 days a week and have a 20 minute brisk walk from the station to the office and I never take the bus or tube these days so I clock 40 mins 3 days a week but feel like I ought to do something more now that my body takes that for granted!0 -
I'm just checking in here for ideas. I'm hoping to join SW when my referral comes through. Have done weight watchers a lot with varying degrees of success but a change is as good as a rest right and lots of friends do SW
Just trading to find meal ideas, especially breakfasts as I usually just have cereal, or toast, or both
So hello from me, I'm wiggly, have about 7st to lose allegedly but I don't want to do that, want to be a comfortable size 16/18. Hope I get my head around this quickly!Trying to get on top of finances one step at a time0 -
Thanks for the positive support guys - still no word from my consultant! Well its only been 5 days eh!
Goals - well I am on holiday from Sunday so want to feel a bit lighter before then, then 1 month until my Wedding Anniversary, 17 weeks until my next holiday and 21 weeks until a large family wedding so I have plenty of goals.
I think it is maintaining the motivation when I have so much to lose - it seems so daunting and I cannot imagine myself doing it because of the mammoth task ahead of me.
I will take it one day at a time - day time is fine - it is the dreaded evening when I start to fall apart - in bed by 7pm I think!0
