Why does easy cook rice taste rubbish?

I was taught to cook rice in boiling salted water - rice without salt is tasteless. and I ALWAYS get complimented on my rice. I just use loads of water, a little salt, and cook it for ten minutes then leave it with the lid on for five minutes - drain and serve.0

No! Delicious!I personally love easy cook rice, it is so much better than me making my own, no more burnt saucepans and rice that is either burnt or hard:rotfl:Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0

No! Delicious!I rinse with boiling water before cooking to remove the dustiness, then add a little salt.
Pasta and rice always have to be cooked with salt in the water.
A quarter of a stock cube crumbled into the cooking water also makes it savoury, but you lose the fluffy whiteness.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Seriously struggling right now, to understand what this has to do with marriage and relationships.(•_•)

If I ever cooked pasta I would always put salt in the pan, not so much rice.0

No! Delicious!I don't mind the easy cook stuff, I stocked up on it last time it was half price.
If cooking properly though... measure one glass of rice and rinse under the tap. Put a small amount of oil in pan and stir rice in it until it goes opaque then add one and a two thirds glasses of water and bring to boil.
When it boils turn it down and cook with the lid on until the rice starts getting little pits/indents in the surface of the top layer (your lid needs to be glass btw!) Take it off the heat, take the lid off, cover with a couple of sheets of newspaper and wedge the lid back on and leave for a few minutes for the paper to absorb the moisture.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Yes! Rubbish!I use mostly basmati rice, two cups water per cup of rice in a heavy bottomed pan, bring to the boil, turn off the heat and let it sit there for 10 -12 minutes.
Perfect fluffy, dry, non-sticky rice every time. No faff, no mess, just lovely rice. What could be easier than that?I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.
